Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, alongwith Dr. Sumati Sharma, Former Additional Director, DRDO, New Delhi, today  visited the Faculty of Basic Sciences and inaugurated the Virtual Classroom facility developed under ICAR, NAHEP- Resilient Agricultural Education System (RAES). 

They also inspected the research work going on in the Division of Biochemistry regarding the cultivation of medicinal mushrooms (Cordyceps militaris commonly called Keedajadi).The Vice Chancellor lauded the facility developed and work being undertaken at the Faculty of Basic Sciences under the leadership of Prof. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean, F.B.Sc. 

Prof. Sharma  suggested for exchange of academic programmes with other universities for academic excellence at national level and stressed for a planned agenda to be prepared for the initiation of diploma and certificate courses through virtual mode.

He further said that such types of facilities should be utilized regularly and advised to organize virtual lectures from the experts of national and international fame for the knowledge gain of students. Prof. Anil Kumar Sharma, Nodal Officer, ICAR, SKUAST-Jammu, briefed about the establishment of the Virtual classroom. Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Head, Division of Biochemistry gave a brief introduction about the virtual classroom and its functioning. 

He said that it is a part of the Blended Learning Method that combines online and in-person teaching/ learning. He further explained that it is an online space that stimulates a live classroom and students can have live interaction with faculties. Earlier Prof. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean, F.B.Sc. welcomed Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and other visiting dignitaries. 

The programme was also attended by Dr. Pardeep Wali (Director Research), Dr. S.K. Gupta, Registrar; Dr. A.K. Mondal (Dean, FoA), Sh. Madan Lal (Comptroller) and faculty members. Prof. Sanjay Guleria  conducted proceedings of the programme and at the end vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Moni Gupta, Professor, Biochemistry.
