DDC Chairman reviews progress of work on Jammu-Akhnoor highway

District Development Council Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan on Tuesday reviewed the progress of works being executed on four lanning of Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway, here at DC Office complex.

At the outset, the DDC Chairman took up the issues faced by the people due to ongoing works and dismal condition of link roads connecting this highway to different localities.It was apprised in the meeting that 17 link roads connect areas including Pencil factory, Muthi, Barnai, Purkhoo, Misriwala,  Bawe Talab, Bathera, etc and need immediate maintenance.

The DDC Chairman instructed the National Highway Authority of India to pace up the ongoing four-laning work and allow the traffic on the completed stretch of flyover to decongest the roads in the vicinity.

Bharat Bhushan asked for immediate repair of these link roads and asked the NHAI to take up the maintenance work immediately.The DDC Chairman also asked for developing proper drainage to overcome the problem of water logging being observed during the rainy spells at various places on the highway.

Besides, the DDC Chairman asked the GM NHAI to allow the traffic on the completed stretch of flyover to further decongest the traffic and provide a sigh of relief to commuters.After the detailed discussion, the GM NHAI assured the meeting that all the issues raised will be taken up on priority and things will be accomplished as discussed during the deliberations.

The DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Singh, DDC member Akhnoor  Sharda Bhau, DDC Member Marh Balbir Kumar, ADDC Ramesh Kumar, ADC Satish Sharma, General Manager NHAI  Col. Sangwan,

ACR Jammu Vijay Sharma, SDM Marh Rajeev Khajuria, SDM Jammu North Udham Dass Sharma, SE PWD and Kuldeep Nathyal, Joint Commissioner Municipality were also present in the meeting.
