Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr arrangements finalised

Arrangements for holy month of Ramzan besides Eid-ul-Fitr were discussed and finalized here today at a joint meeting of officers and representatives of religious organizations held here under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Jammu, Mr Ajit K Sahu. Senior officers of various departments, besides representatives of Managing Committee, Jamia Masjid, Talab Khatikan, Seerat-ul-Nabi Welfare Jammu, Muslim Welfare Trust, Muslim Federation, Muslim Development Forum and other religious organisations were present.

The DDC directed district administration to put in all possible efforts to ensure adequate facilities at all religious places, including mosques for the devotees who come for prayers. He asked the concerned departments to properly regulate supply of food grains, power and drinking water during the holy month. The DDC also reviewed the Medicare, security, cleanliness and other arrangements made for these auspicious occasions. He asked the concerned functionaries to ensure that people of Jammu city may not face any inconvenience on account of power and drinking water supply during the holy month. Discussing various issues, the DDC directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to ensure cleanliness in and around the Mosques located in Jammu city particularly at Eidgah where Eid prayers would be offered.

He also directed to install flood lights at Jamia Masjid , Talab Khatikan and Mosques at Ustad Mohalla, Malik Market Narwal, Tawi Bridge, Janipur, Lakhdata Bazar and Sidhra for the convenience of the  devotees who go for prayers duirng late evening   and early  morning hours etc. The PDD and PHE were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during Saheri and Afftari times.  

Similarly, the Police and Traffic authorities were directed to ensure security around the Mosques and better traffic management in the city to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees. The traffic police was asked to check wrong and idle parking around Mosques.Regarding the arrangements for Eid, the PWD and PHE departments were asked to erect barricades at Eidgah, while Fire Services Department was asked to be ready to meet any eventuality. The Health authorities were asked to make available sufficient number of well equipped ambulances in addition to extra ambulances provided by Red Cross and Civil Defence at all the places of Eid prayers.

The DDC directed the Legal Metrology and CAPD to conduct regular market inspection to keep a watch on overcharging by traders and quality of food stuff sold by them during these auspicious occasions. Representatives of Muslim organizations present in the meeting putforth various demands and suggestions for making fool proof arrangements for the convenience of the people. The DDC assured   that all their demands and suggestions would be give due consideration.The participants assured the chair that they will leave no stone unturned to provide  all necessary amenities to people so that the holy month of Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr days pass smoothly and people are satisfied with the arrangements made by Government functionaries.
