The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Anantnag, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi and Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr. Piyush Singla today jointly presided over the function of Digital Mela Week celebration organised by the District Administration, Anantnag at Dak Banglow, here.

Both dignitaries inspected the Digi Mela stalls wherein several departments had installed stalls showcasing digital initiatives and services under Digital India campaign. The departments provided on the spot e-services and publicity materials depicting online services available on digital platforms of the government among the general public. 

The DC also interacted with visitors and resource persons of respective departments and emphasized upon departments to maximize the outreach and provide awareness to the people via different mediums.

While interacting with the people, DC urged them to avail the benefits of Digital initiatives that have eased the process of availing various government services. He said under the digital India campaign, the administration is moving towards paperless governance by switching over to online mode, which is responsive, transparent and people friendly.

He said more than 200 important services have been transferred to online mode, and people are availing the services online within set time limits in a fair and transparent manner.On the occasion, the DC also said that during the week-long celebrations, several activities shall be organised in the district to raise awareness about digital services being offered by the government. Besides, Block level awareness programs shall also be held at various places.  

Students on the occasion got also acquainted with the online education services available for them whereas many farmers and horticulturists present were also given awareness on various online services being provided by departments of Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture and marketing agencies.DDC members, BDC members, Sectoral/ district officers and officials, students, and the public attended the inaugural ceremony.
