Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, who is on a two day tour to District Kishtwar, today participated in the first Pratham Pooja here at Machail Mata Bhawan to mark the beginning of Annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra.Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma, DDC Councilor Paddar, Hari Krishan Chauhan, SDM Paddar Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma and other officers accompanied the Div Com.

The commencement of the annual pilgrimage was marked with Hawan and other religious rituals which witnessed participation of scores of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir. The Div com prayed for peace, prosperity in the UT.Meanwhile, the Div Com also interacted with the PRIs and locals and listened to their demands and issues.

The PRIs highlighted their demands regarding the up-gradation of local infrastructure including connectivity to Machail Shrine, execution of Water supply schemes and provision of health care facilities in the far flung panchayats of Paddar.The Div Com assured to personally intervene at different quarters to fulfill their demands in a time bound manner. 

He directed the DC Kishtwar to put in extra efforts to meet the public demands under his competence in a time bound manner.The Div Com also distributed land passbooks among the locals at revenue village Machail under Digital JK.Later, the Div Com also took stock of the Yatra arrangements made by the district administration for safe and smooth pilgrimage. 

He asked for taking due care of sanitation, water supply and provision of power in Machail Mata Bhawan area, langers facilities enroute during the yatra days. He further asked for regular maintenance of the trek leading to the Bhawan and timely completion of the damaged bridge at Kundail.

Earlier, the other day the Div Com took a comprehensive review of the developmental work/activities being carried out in the district in a meeting with the district administration.Officers who attended the meeting included District Development Commissioner, Ashok Sharma; SSP, Shafkat Hussain Butt; ADDC, Sham Lal; ADC Inderjeet Singh Parihar; JDP Mohammad Iqbal; ACR Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACD Atul Dutt Sharma, DPO Sunil Bhutyal; SDMs, SEs, XEns and other district and sectoral officers.

He was briefed in detail about the component wise physical and financial progress achieved in various schemes and programmes being implemented by different departments in the district under various sectors like RDD, Health, Education, Power sectors, PHE, Social Welfare, Agriculture and Horticulture sectors etc.

The current physical and financial status of the various Iconic projects which includes construction of B.Sc. nursing college, construction of Tourism Facilitation Centre at Gulab Garh Paddar, dedicated feeders at Machail Mata shrine, construction of 100 bedded additional building at DH Kishtwar, Multipurpose Indoor stadium at GHSS Kishtwar, GDC Marwah etc. under execution in the district were also reviewed thread barely during the meeting.

The Div Com directed all the concerned executing agencies to pace up the speed of works undertaken by them and stick to the timeline so that these projects are completed in stipulated time. He also directed all departments to ensure 100 percent expenditure under District Capex and other CSS to avoid lapse of funds.

Special directions were given to departments to ensure  to efficiently and effectively extend the benefit of various social Welfare schemes, improve the enrolment of left out stds. , improve the health care facility in far flung areas of district, timely completion of developmental projects, uninterrupted supply of water and power supply to people, generation of self employment avenues, tapping the tourism sector of district Kishtwar  besides improvising others sectors.

The Div com also took stock of the COVID 19 scenario in the district and instructed the health department and district administration to work in synergy and ensure the implementation of COVID enforcement measures in the district for the safety of masses.

Reviewing the measures being taken to curb the menace of drug abuse from the district, the Div Com asked the concerned officer to take effective measures to keep the youth away from the drug abuse and channelise their potential towards positive direction.

In this regard CMO Kishtwar was instructed to identify land for the construction of Drugs De-Addiction Rehabilitation Centre in the district besides directed to frame a Committee of different stakeholders under NCORD.District administration asked to place in a comprehensive mechanism to curb this menace of drug abuse and Drug trafficking in the district effectively.

Regarding the celebration of Digital week and Digital Mela, the Div Com asked all to make dedicated efforts to generate massive awareness among the masses about online services delivered by various departments.He directed the departments to set up stalls with hoardings displaying their respective online services during the 3 day digital-Mela.

Later Div Com held an interactive session with the representatives of different socio-religious organisations, civil society members, PRIs and political parties and listened to their grievances and demands.After patient listening, he assured them that their issues shall be taken up with concerned quarters for immediate resolution.

He further appealed to the representatives to make multilateral efforts to create a congenial environment for the peace, brotherhood and development in the district.
