Haryana Police has succeeded in sending back an amount of Rs 7 crore to the accounts of about one thousand victims of cyber fraud in the first six months of this year.This information was given in a meeting of officers of the Police Department regarding cybercrime organized under the chairmanship of Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij here today. Additional Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) Shri O. P. Singh was also present.

*Calling the people of the state, immediately give 1930 helpline information in case of online fraud - Vij*

During this, Sh. Vij appealed to the people of the state that if any person is cheated online, then they should immediately provide information regarding the fraud on 1930 helpline so that cybercrime can be cracked down.

*Do not click on suspicion of cyber fraud, do not share the identification number if not sure - Vij*

He said that by practicing cyber to be an aware user and by spreading the cyber space with a mindset of positive skepticism, he can be safe. Don't click when in doubt, don't share your identification number if you're not sure, and call the cybercrime helpline number 1930 immediately, he said. 

However, there has been an increase in cybercrime complaints over the years. Along with training its manpower in cyber crime investigation, the police are also working to crack down on such cyber criminals.

*Currently 309 cyber desks and 29 police stations have more than 1000 police personnel deployed to deal with cybercriminals- Vij*

He said that a cyber desk is being set up in each police station and a cyber police station in each district and range headquarters. He said that at present more than 1000 police personnel have been deployed in 309 cyber desks and 29 police stations to deal with cyber criminals. These units are receiving complaints directly or through cyber crime helpline number 1930. 

He said that the police have registered 366 cases of cybercrime in the year 2019, 676 in the year 2020, 670 in the year 2021 and 1010 in the first six months of the year 2022. Sh. Vij said that on the basis of cybercrime complaints on cybercrime helpline 1930 till June 2022 of this year, the state police has prohibited the transfer of about Rs 7 crore from the accounts of the cyber thugs and refunded the victims to their accounts.

*Work on a comprehensive cyber security awareness program named 'Cyber Safe India'- Vij*

The Home Minister said that the State Crime Branch is working on a comprehensive cyber security awareness program named 'Cyber Safe India' with the objective of making people aware about cyber security and creating awareness among students about employment opportunities in cyber security. The program will conduct several online multiple choice tests from time to time and identify high percentage of people as Cyber-Veer.

*'Cyber Safe India' program to offer internship in cyber security at cyber police stations and cyber forensic labs- Vij*

The program will also offer internships in cyber security at cyber police stations and cyber forensic labs in the state. It will also give certificates and honorarium to cyber-Veers for participating and contributing to cyber security awareness programs as resource persons. 

He informed that this program will be specially focused on Head Boys and Girls of Schools across the State. It aims to use their influence, outreach and leadership skills to spread awareness about cyber security and job opportunities available in the region.
