Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Sharmila, a participant in the Commonwealth Games, from Rewari

Ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, on Wednesday,  interacted directly with the participating sportspersons from across the country via video conferencing.

Interacting with Sharmila of Rewari, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes and blessed her to return to India as a winner.  While encouraging the players, he said that Indian players have a golden opportunity to dominate the world.It is worth noting that the player Sharmila is originally from Mahendragarh and is a player of shot putt.  

Sharmila is currently practicing at Rao Tularam Stadium in Rewari.  The Prime Minister said that Haryana has a special place in sports events and talented players from here are bringing laurels to their village, district, state as well as the country across the world.

While interacting with Sharmila, the Prime Minister said that she started her career in sports at the age of 34 and showed it by winning the gold medal in just two years.  He asked Sharmila that he would definitely like to know how this miracle happened, what her inspiration was. 

He told her that she is a role model for the country.  The Prime Minister also wished her family a bright future.  Sharmila said that inspiration from Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi will prove helpful in winning the medal for her.
