The Sports Minister Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Monday said that multipurpose sports parks are being developed in the villages of the state in order to promote sports culture in Punjab and channel the energy of youngsters of the state in the right direction. 

The Minister, while talking to media persons during his visit to inspect the ongoing construction work of multi-purpose sports park at Khaira Kotli village in Dasuya today, said that Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to promote sports and government is focusing on the basic needs of sportspersons. 

The Cabinet Minister said that the youth of the state will get motivated for sports when they get multipurpose sports parks in every village and town. He said, the Punjab government is working dedicatedly to develop such sports parks in each village of the state so that the youth of the state can promote their career in sports and stay away from drugs menace. 

He said that the main focus of the Punjab government is to reach out to the people in the field of sports, education and health.

Mr. Hayer said that apart from hockey, football, cricket, basketball, volleyball ground, walking path (for women and elderly), children's park, open gym and cross fitness gym will be built in the multi-purpose sports park being constructed at village Khaira Kotli.

He said that the work of this sports park will be completed in four months. Earlier, he visited the Government College at Tanda Uramud and enquired about the sports activities and requirements to be fulfilled there.

Meanwhile, Hayer was accompanied by MLA Dasuya Karmveer Singh Ghumman and MLA Urmur tanda Jasvir Singh Raja Gill. A guard of honour was also given to the Cabinet Minister on behalf of the Punjab Police contingent on the occasion.
