Amid chanting of bhajans, and slogans in praise of Lord Shiva, the District Development Council Udhampur, Vice Chairperson Juhi Manhas Pathania flagged off first ever Kawad Yatra here from the Kali Mata Mandir Dandyal, Udhampur in presence of Surinder Singh Khalsa, Vice President Municipal Council Udhampur, Aarti Sharma Sarpanch Mand, Vikas Kumar Chairman KARAM KARTE CHALO SOCIETY( Kawad Yatra Committee Udhampur) and other prominent civil society members, hoping that the pilgrimage will be spiritually blissful for the devout.
The holy expedition called Kawad Yatra commences on the first day of Sawan (Shravan). It culminates on the Chaturdashi Tithi (the fourteenth day during the waning phase of the Lunar cycle).It is the first time that Kawad yatra was taken out from Udhampur to Haridwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Juhi Manhas Pathania hoped that this religious pilgrimage would culminate on a smooth and successful note. She appealed to people to optimally utilize religious events to promote peace, brotherhood and communal harmony in the society.
She urged the devotees to spread the message of peace, tranquility and righteousness, adding that these are the hallmarks of Sanatan Dharam. She hoped that the Yatra will culminate in true spirit of togetherness with the devotees getting their spiritual thirst quenched.
She extended sawan month greetings to the people and prayed for peace, prosperity and well being.Those present at the flag-off ceremony included Mohit Singh, Divinder Singh Manhas,Romesh Kumar,Yash Anmol, Kuldeep Sharma, Sansar Sharma ,Nek Ram, Darshan Kumar and Rajesh Kumar all members of KARAM KARTE CHALO SOCIETY.
