LPU’s academicians & researchers visited Spain under European Union Project

Visit was made under the ‘SPIRIT’ project, which is a European Union funded project under the Erasmus+ plan

Five-member Lovely Professional University (LPU) team of top academicians & researchers visited Spain at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) for eight days. During the visit, they interacted intensely with academicians, entrepreneurs, and researchers from different countries. 

Their visit was made under the ‘SPIRIT’ project, which is a European Union funded project under the Erasmus+ plan.LPU has won Rs 9 Crores’ project ‘SPIRIT’ from the European Commission in the year 2020, and is leading a consortium of 11 universities from Europe and Asia.  

This project is aimed at capacity building in the field of sports, physiotherapy and physical education through research and community development. Out of the 1,005 applications that the project received from across the globe, LPU became the only university from India to be designated the lead coordinator. 

The visit to Spain was to further gain theoretical and practical knowledge about effective courses and syllabi formation under the project for participants.LPU’s Vice President & Head Division of International Affairs, Dr Aman Mittal, who is steering the whole Project at LPU, congratulated the consortium for completing various propagating tasks under the project. 

Dr Mittal shares that such rapid continuity in works being done will certainly have a huge impact on partner institutions and countries in Europe and Asia. Dr Mittal also suggested all team members to stay committed to the project, and remain engaged with the international community for exemplary progress of the project.

Visitors from LPU to Spain included its Executive Dean & Head Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr Monica Gulati; Registrar Dr Manish Gupta; Sr Dean Prof Dr Navdeep Dhaliwal; Prof & Deputy Dean, Dr Neelam Sharma; and, Project Coordinator Prof Dr Suresh Mani.

For practical level learning, the LPU team visited Valencia CB Basketball City; Sport Tennis Clubs; La Marina; Facilities for ‘Football Wheelchair’ at Valencia football club; Mas Camarena Sports School Complex; sports medical centre; Ricardo Tormo motorbike circuit; and more, only to understand the apt usage of latest, advanced and sophisticated sports facilities.

As per additional activities, various MoUs were also signed with Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal for its Instituto Superior Técnico, and Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (UL-FMH); University of Nicosia, Cyprus; and, IPB University, Indonesia. 

In addition, the Memorandum of Association was signed with University Syiah Kuala, Indonesia. Similarly, the LPU team also visited the Universidad Europea de Valencia for a significant collaboration. LPU teams will further visit other countries, including Germany, under the project.
