Australian batsman David Warner: In the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, David Warner was stumped out on 99, falling agonisingly short of his century. Warner persisted at one end as wickets kept falling on the other, but he couldn't help Australia cross the finish line as Dhananjaya de Silva removed him for the visitors' seventh wicket of the innings as they chased a 259-run mark to win and stay alive in the series.

For the unversed, Warner became the second player, after India's VVS Laxman, to be stumped out for 99 in ODIs, making him one of the few players to have reached that score. Warner attempted to bring his side to a successful conclusion on his own, but De Silva had other ideas. Against Warner, he swung around the wicket and got him to commit to a cover drive before getting out on an outside edge.

The wicketkeeper, Niroshan Dickwella, had the opportunity to remove the bails before Warner could recover because the Australian star had attempted to attack the ball by moving down the track.

Warner, on the other hand, led the team's pursuit bravely because he was able to secure crucial runs that his teammates, regrettably, were unable to. Pat Cummins, who scored 35 runs off 43 pitches, was the team's second-highest run-scorer after Warner. The hosts gave the visitors a really difficult time on the field, despite the fact that it seemed like an easy chase for the visitors.
