Ahead of International Day of Yoga being observed across the Globe on June 21, 2022, a Yoga Championship was organized today by the Department of AYUSH in collaboration with District Administration Samba here at indoor stadium to create awareness and invoke public interest in Yoga practice.

Around 153 students, men, women and locals participated in the Yoga Championship which was conducted for three different categories.The DC underlined that every individual should make yoga as part of life to implore its benefits.The winners of the Yoga Championship included Ayan Hussain (8 year), Utpalakshi (9 year), Vineet Sharma, Showkat Ali, Sonam Devi, Mridini Sambyal in the under 16 age category. 

Lalit, Kapil, Deepak, Manisha, Shavi, Sadhana emerged winners in under 30 year category, while Sunil, Jagmohan, Vijay and Payal in above 30 age category. They demonstrated Yoga asanas like Manduk Asan, Surya Namaskar, Variskh Asan, Tadasan, utkatasana, Mukh Asana, etc. 

The DC presented the awards to the winners.District Nodal officer Ayush, Dr Vikram Jamwal, District Information Officer, Ajay Sharma, District Manager J&K sports council Baljinder Singh, Dr Geeta, NSS program officer from Government Degree College Samba besides others were also present.
