On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Shopian, a programme was organised to commemorate ‘World Blood Donor day’ by District Red Cross Society, Shopian in collaboration with Health Department Shopian and NGOs.The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Planning Officer, Shopian, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana at District Hospital Shopian.
On the occasion, 17 volunteers donated blood to be used to save precious lives.Meanwhile, CPO called upon the people to come forward and donate blood which is the most precious gift of life. He observed that this year, the World Blood Donors slogan is "Donating blood is an act of solidarity" and called upon everyone to join the efforts of those concerned and save lives.
CPO stated that every blood donation helps to save humanity and expressed his gratitude towards the volunteers all over the world for this gift of kindness.Medical Superintendent DH elaborated on the significance of Blood Donation.Among others, Accounts Officer, Shopian, Officers and officials of District Red Cross Society, besides health functionaries and NGOs including Human Race and Helping Hand also participated.
