The movie buffs are now on cloud nine as the theatres are welcoming new releases this season. Many Punjabi movies have hit the theatres already and many are getting their new release dates. And many films have been locked for June release. There are 6 films which are scheduled to hit the big screens from the first week of June to last. This listing is purely based on the announcements made by the producers/production houses and therefore, the release dates may differ.
List of Upcoming Punjabi movies to release in June 2022
Widow Colony - 3 June
Almost everyone is aware of the 1984 riots and films were also made on the same. But this time Gippy Grewal and Humble Motion Pictures announced that they will deliver a film regarding the 1984 incident and it will be a little different from others. The film will present this story from the perspective of those who were left behind, the widows of the 1984 martyrs. It is all set to release in the theatres on 3 June 2022. The film, ‘Widow Colony’ is written and directed by proficient director Smeep Kang, while it is bankrolled by Gippy Grewal as the film is presented under the banner of Humble Motion Pictures.
Mahi Mera Nikka Jeha - 3 June
The comedy-drama features the father-son duo, Pukhraj Bhalla, and Jaswinder Bhalla on the screens together, and not only this, but Mera Mahi Nikka Jeha also stars Karan Deol, Hashneen Chauhan, Sukhwinder Chahal, Anita Devgan, Seema Kaushal, Honey Mattu and many such talented and renowned faces of the industry will be seen in the film. The film is based on the height issue and will be filled with a heavy dose of laughter. The upcoming film will be released on 3 June. It has been written by Jagdev Sekhon and Satinder Singh Dev has well-directed the same. It is produced by Rajiv Singla and co-produced by Rajesh Goyal, Ankit Jindal, Navneet Goyal, and Raman Goyal.
Sher Bagga - 10 June
The film which stars one of the most loved on-screen couples that is Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa is a romantic-comedy film. The film's trailer has been released by the makers already, and it offers not just an extraordinary tale, but an ‘EGG-xtraordinary scoop of fun. Yes, you read that right. Many little things in the trailer will make you forced to watch the full and fledged film. What happens in the film will be unveiled, once the movie hits the big screen on June 10, 2022. Further, the Collaborative production of Thind Motion Pictures and Ammy Virk Productions has been written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. It features ace artists like Kaka Kautki, Nirmal Rishi, Deep Sehgal, Baninder Bunny, and many more. Happy Raikoti, Shera Dhaliwal, and Raj Fatehpur have penned down lyrics for the film’s song.
Posti - 17 June
Posti will feature a love tale between Babbal Rai and Surilie Gautam, as well as a prominent societal concern in Punjab: heroin addiction. The release date of the film has been changed more than thrice and finally, the makers have locked the female date which is 17 June. The trailer of Posti has already been released in 2020. The film has been directed by Rana Ranbir, ‘Posti’ has been made under Gippy Grewal’s banner. The movie has been supported by a huge star cast including Babbal Rai, Surilie Gautam, Prince KJ Singh, Rana Ranbir, Vadda Grewal, Raghveer Boli, Jass Dhillon, Malkeet Rauni, Rana Jung Bahadur, Tarsem Paul and Seema Kaushal.
Shareek 2 - 24 June
The upcoming film Shareek 2 will be an action drama starring Dev Kharoud and Jimmy Sheirgill and Sharan Kaur as the main leads. Through the poster and motion poster, you can get a clear idea about the theme of the film which will include family emotions, fights, and a heart-wrenching story. Apart from Jimmy, Dev and Sharan, the film also stars talented actors like Amar Noorie, Mukul Dev, Anita Meet, Yograj Singh, Aman Sutardhar, Mahavir Bhullar, and Sunita Dhir. Further, written by Inderpal Singh, the movie has been directed by Navaniat Singh with Harmeet Singh as the cinematographer.
Television - 24 June
Kulwinder Billa and Mandy Takhar’s upcoming film Television seems to be based on old times when Televisions were not so common. But something concrete can not be decided from the poster. The makers' have decided on the date 24 June to unfold the story. Further, along with Kulwinder Billa and Mandy Takhar, the movie will have Harby Sangha, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Prince Kanwal Jit Singh and BN Sharma among others in important roles. Directed by Taj, the movie has been bankrolled by Sumeet Singh and Pushpinder Kaur. The story of the movie is penned by Mani Manjinder Singh and the dialogues are written by Raju Verma.
