A training programme for upscaling of skills of SHG members was today kick-started at Kulgam.The training programme for these SHG members was inagurated by the District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Kulgam, Mohd Afzal Parrey and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat from mini-secreterait, here.The 12 days long training programme is a joint initiative between Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM- UMEED) in collaboration with Department of Skill Development and will cover 143 SHG members across Kulgam district in 7 trades viz. Dress Making, Fashion Designing and Technology, Front Office Assistant, Nursery and Orchard Management and Diary Farm Entrepreneur.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted objective of the skill development programme and said that the programme is rolled to assist women and SHG members to augment their skills and improve their livelihoods opportunities.He also provided insight of new and innovative ideas to be adopted by the members and advocated to become job providers rather a job seeker.District program Manager, JKRLM Javaid Ahmad Mir also presented a detailed outlook of the achievements of NRLM in the district and also highlighted the importance of such programmes in ameliorating the socio–economic conditions of rural SHG women and improving their household incomes.The programme was attended by Block Programme Managers, MIS Assistants of JKRLM district Kulgam besides others.
