As part of weekly Block Diwas initiative of the government, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua, Rahul Pandey today convened a Public Outreach Programme in the premises of PWD Rest House, Billawar.BDC Chairperson Billawar Ashok Kumar; BDC Chairperson Baggan Nisha Devi; BDC Chairperson Mandli Rita Devi; DDC Member Billawar Bikram Singh; DDC Member Nagrota Gujjro Narayan Dutt Tripathi; Chairman Billawar MC Uma Kant Basotra; ADC Billawar Sandesh Kumar Sharma; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh and other district officers and officials, besides a large number of people attended the programme.The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations, including PRI members projecting demands and appraising the DC about the problems being faced by them in their respective areas.
The people submitted a memorandum of demands highlighting issues and seeking redressal of the same. They demanded better road connectivity, adequate drinking water supply and installation of electric poles, measures to prevent forest fires, early completion of PMGSY roads and meeting shortage of staff in the educational institutions, besides other amenities.Listening patiently to the demands of people, the DC passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.The DC said the motive behind these outreach programmes was to get firsthand appraisal of the problems and development needs of the people and work out the mechanism to address the same in a time bound manner. He assured people that the projected issues will be looked into and efforts will be made to redress them on priority basis.On the occasion, the DC inspected the stalls put up by the Department of Animal husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Health, ICDS, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, KVIB, Handloom & Handicrafts etc.Similarly, Block Diwas proceedings were also held at Basohli and Bani sub divisions.
