World Red Cross Day was observed today by the Indian Red Cross Society Kapurthala with the theme "BeHumankind" under the guidance of Dr Preet Kanwal, Chairperson, Indian Red Cross Society, Kapurthala.Assistant Commissioner Mr Ranjit Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Kapurthala Mrs Anu Ratan and DSP Mr Kamaljit Singh Aulakh were also grace the occasion. Addressing the representatives of various NGOs present at the event, Dr Preet Kanwal said that the day was observed to mark the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross.She said that Red Cross Societies are known for social work in the country and around the world. Talking about to strengthen the activities of the Red Cross at Kapurthala, she said that Red Cross would pay special attention to the activities related to public welfare especially girls' education and health. She also said that free vocational training courses for girls like a boutique, fashion designing, and beauty parlour would be started soon so that they could start their own business with free training. Earlier secretary Red cross Mr RC Birha and members of society welcomed the chief guest.
