TALAASH Survey launched for identifying Out of School Children (OoSC): Deep Raj

Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Er. Deep Raj, today e- launched TALAASH survey to identify the Out of School Children in the UT.On the directions of Principal Secretary School Education Department, Bishwajit Kumar Singh, Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, J&K has rolled out a mobile app for mapping of "out-of-school children (OoSC)" by conducting a door to door survey by covering all the habitations and households within the UT. “TALAASH App is aimed at identifying, tracking and monitoring out of school children (OoSC) of 6 to 18 years of age. The App can be used on smartphones by teachers, Heads of the Institutions (HoIs) and others for mapping/survey” the Project Director said after launching the Survey.He further informed that TALAASH will help surveyors in identifying and enrolling such children in the schools of nearby habitations, he said. For conducting the TALAASH survey in 188 zones and 20 Districts of J&K UT, around 23317 surveyors have already been trained, Deep Raj said.

He also said that the Department was putting in all efforts to keep track of OoSC in a timely manner through intensive data analysis and monitoring. He also informed that, during the recent drive, 167000 Students have been enrolled in various classes, with the joint efforts of Directorate of School Education Jammu and Kashmir.While reiterating the importance of TALAASH Survey, Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Er Deep Raj issued directions to all the Chief Education officers and Principal DIETs regarding the completion of TALAASH survey by 31st of May 2022, so that these children can be provided with special training and can be enrolled in age appropriate class to continue their studies.

During this virtual launching session of TALAASH survey, all the Chief Education Officers, the Principals of DIETs and all other stakeholders assured to complete the survey within the given time.Besides, others Programme Coordinators, Ajeet Sharma, State Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha J&K, also interacted with the concerned district teams. Team of Samagra Shiksha including, Assistant Coordinators, Syed Fayaz Ahmad, Mudhasser Ahmad Wani, Programmer Ms. Sunita Fotedar, Assistant Programmer, Mr. Vikas Khajuria, Samar Jameel Teacher and Sheikh Shuhail, Computer Assistant also attended the TALAASH launching session.
