Month long ‘Clean Kulgam’ campaign launched at Kulgam

The District Administration Kulgam today launched a month long  Swachta campaign with title, ‘Clean Kulgam’.The campaign was launched by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat by flagging-off a rally of students, employees which started from Laroo Bus Stand carrying banners and pla cards to give a strong and open message about the importance of cleanliness.Under this campaign, cleanliness drives were carried out in which water bodies, roads were cleaned and plastic was also collected and dumped at the dumping sites properly.

The DC also participated in the cleanliness drive that also took place across Laroo markets. During the drive shopkeepers were urged to maintain sanitation in an around their business establishments and to dump the garbage properly in dustbins to keep the market clean.Shopkeepers were also warned by the DC to maintain cleanliness and warned that those who will not follow the instructions will face action.Highlighting the purpose of the campaign, the DC said that the main aim of the campaign is to give a strong message about the importance of cleanliness with emphasis on cleanliness of water bodies, roads, tourist places besides roads leading to tourist and other places in the district.

He also called for proactive role of all stakeholders to make district clean and add beauty to district which in turn will attract more tourists to Kulgam as the district is blessed with beautiful and serene tourist destinations.He added that under this initiative cleanliness drives shall continue for a month across all areas of district with special focus on Rural areas.ACD, ACP, Tehsildar Kulgam, Tehsildar Hq and other officers besides PRI members, Municipal authorities students and people participated with high enthusiasm in this cleanliness drive.
