Mr Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Co-operation and Farmers Welfare, Government of India today reviewed the works being done under the Aspirational District Program in District Moga and directed the concerned departments. Mr Kulwant Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Mr Gulneet Singh Khurana, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr Satwant Singh, SDM Moga and other officials were present at the meeting.

At the outset of the meeting he congratulated the fact that out of 115 aspirational districts across the country, District Moga was performing very well. The district Moga is fulfilling the criteria for which this program was started. He said that this program was started in 2018 under which an amount of Rs. 9 crores has been provided to district Moga so far. This money is being spent on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and financial inclusion.

He asked the Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh how much could be done for the development of Skill, Health, Rural Development, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Anganwadi and Poly House technology in the district Moga. He assured me that there would be no shortage of funds under the Aspirational District Program. He said that Punjab was known for feeding the whole country but now it was learned that children in this state were also suffering from malnutrition and other serious diseases which was a matter of concern.

He said that every child in district Moga should get nutrition security. He said that the Union and Punjab Governments have started various schemes for the benefit of the people. He emphasized that every effort should be made to extend the benefits of government schemes to every deserving person. He also visited the Cooperative Society, Government Primary School and Anganwadi Center at village Dala and reviewed the facilities being provided to the farmers and children there.

He also appealed to the farmers to cultivate with poly house technique. This provides a lot of support from the government where there is a lot of crop production. He assured the co-operative society Dala to provide Mulcher and other necessary machinery soon. On this occasion, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies Department Mr Kuldeep Kumar informed about the services being provided by Cooperative Society Dala. Expressing concern over the depletion of groundwater in Punjab, he said that farmers should move out of paddy cultivation and move towards crop diversification.

To save the environment, crop residues should not be set on fire.He later visited the Community Health Center Dhudike and inspected the health facilities. On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh apprised about the demands of District Moga and assured that every effort would be made to meet the five indicators in District Moga as per the directions of the Policy Commission.
