Rupnagar police arrest 25-year-old man with 7 illegal weapons

Under a campaign against the gangsters and sale & purchase of illegal weapons, Rupnagar Police on Friday arrested a 25-year-old man with seven illegal weapons (pistol/desi katta).Addressing the media during a press conference, SSP Dr. Rupnagar Sandeep Kumar Garg said that CIA Incharge Inspector Satnam Singh and his team have caught Golu Rajput resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dugri police station, district Ludhiana at village Ahmedpur in Ropar and recovered 03 pistol 32 bore, 01 desi katta 32 bore, 01 desi katta 12 bore, 2 desi katta 315 bore and 8 cartridges of 32 bore, 01 cartridge of 12 bore, 02 cartridges of 315 bore from him. The weapons were obtained from a man named Qasim.Dr. Garg further said that the police party apprehended Golu Rajput on the suspicion under the flyover in front of Ahmedpur village and interrogated him where weapons were also recovered from him. 

Following which case No. 21 dated 08.4.2022 under section 25/54/59 against the accused has been registered at Sadar Police Station, Rupnagar and investigation is going on.SSP said that police remand is being obtained by producing him in court. The accused will be interrogated in-depth about where from whom and for what purpose the ill-legal arms and ammunition have been received and to whom they were to be handed over or what was to be done with these weapons.He said that the accused is likely to have links with gangster Bagga Khan who is behind the bars at Faridkot jail and important revelations are likely to be made during further investigation.Dr. Garg assured that there were no gangsters in Rupnagar district at present and most of the miscreant with criminal background was lodged in jails. He said that any kind of illegal activity in Rupnagar district would not be tolerated and strict legal action would be taken against those who disturbed the peace and law and order.
