Vivek Sheel Soni IPS, SSP SAS Nagar while addressing a press conference here today said that the special operation launched by Mohali Police against various gangsters. In this regard Mohali police had a major breakthrough with the arrest of Harbir Singh Sohal, son of Ranjit Singh, r/o village Pindi Aulakh, Distt. Amritsar, close associate of notorious gangster Jaipal Singh Bhullar and Jasprit Singh Jassi, who were neutralized at Kolkata.Giving brief information about the arrested gangster, SSP Mohali said that police received reliable information regarding Harbir Sohal son of Ranjit Singh resident of village Pindi Aulakh police station Sada district Amritsar and Amritpal Singh alias Satta son of Gurmukh Singh resident of Bajidpur Police Station Bassi Pathana District Fatehgarh Sahib who were hiding at a hideout in Kharar. 

Arshdeep Singh alias Arash Dalla son of Charan Singh from village Dalla, District Moga now based in Canada and his associate Gurjant Singh alias Janta son of Sikander Singh from village Sohavi Police Station Kheri Naudh Singh District Fatehgarh Sahib now based in Australia were handling both accused and giving them instruction from abroad. They were giving extortions calls from abroad Harbir Sohal and Amritpal @ Satta were collecting extortion money on behalf of their handlers based abroad.Regarding this a case FIR No. 103 dated 07.04.2022 u/s 384,34 IPC and 25 Sub Section 7,8 Ammunition Act Police Station City Kharar was registered against his other accomplices and inputs were received against this gang. The operation was carried out on the basis of reliable information. Raids were conducted on their hideouts from where Harbir Sohal was arrested and Amritpal @ Satta managed to escape. Two .30 caliber Chinese pistols, 03 magazines, 50 live cartridges along with four 9mm pistol magazines.

SSP Mohali further briefed about the arrested Harbir Singh that this person is also a Punjabi lyricist and singer by profession and he is close to the deceased gangster Jaipal Singh Bhullar and Jaspreet Singh Jassi who were neutralized by Kolkata STF on the inputs provided by Punjab Police in June 2021. Harbir Sohal was absconding from the day two ASIs of Jagroan police were killed by Jaipal Singh and Jaspreet @ Jassi. Harbir disclosed during the initial investigation that Jaipal had bought large sum of property in the name of Harbir Singh and his relatives with the cash which he has accumulated by committing major robberies like Banur cash van of 2017 (1.33 crore), gold loot 30 Kg at IIFL, Company of Ludhiana in 2020 and other various other robberies.Further investigation is going on in this case. Police parties have been dispatched to various places to arrest other accused.
