Cabinet minister Harjot Singh Bains reviews working of Mining, Jails and Tourism departments

Immediately after assuming the charge of his office, Punjab cabinet Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains reviewed the working of Jails, Mines and Tourism departments. The minister while chairing the meeting with higher officials of the respective departments issued strict directions to ensure transparency and good governance in the ongoing works.While chairing the meeting of mining department, the cabinet minister instructed the officials to mark all the legal sites across the state to check the illegal mining. He added that in this regard, a letter was also being sent to all the deputy commissioners of Punjab and strict compliance of the instructions should be ensured.“I am going to table the new mining policy within 6 months which will be focused upon complete termination of illegal mining from Punjab. By plugging illegal mining, there will be a major boost in the state’s exchequer,” said the minister.

Harjot Singh Bains said that checking of mining sites will be done on daily basis and reports will be taken from the respective districts on routine basis. He added that immediate action will be ensured in case if any complaint will be received in the case of illegal mining.While chairing the meeting of Jail department officials, the cabinet minister instructed that any kind of smuggling into the jails should be stopped immediately and any lackadaisical attitude will not be tolerated at any cost in the jails department.Mr. Harjot Singh Bains directed the tourism department officials to explore the opportunities to boost the tourism activities in Punjab. He added that there were major plans on the cards of the AAP government which would be soon introduced on the ground.Principal secretary jails DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary mining Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary tourism and cultural affairs Husan Lal, additional DGP jails PK Sinha, additional DGP mining RN Dhoke, director tourism KP Brar along with other officials attended the meeting.
