Patriotic spirit and festivity marked Republic day celebrations across Jammu division.The Day witnessed impressive March pasts and variety cultural programs featuring patriotic songs, folk dance and music presented amid strict adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour. AT SAMBA: District Development Council Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma hoisted the National Flag at Sports Stadium, Arazi,   and inspected the parade and took salute at the March past led by Dy.SP Davinder Singh and Dy. Parade commandant SI Sohan Singh  of Jammu Kashmir. The parade comprised contingents of ARMY, BSF, ITBP, Home Guard, NCC cadets of Govt Girls and Boys higher secondary schools. Army Band and Troop squad were also part of the parade.In his address, the District Development Council Chairman recounted the rapid growth of India over 73 years of Freedom. He said the people of India owe this freedom to the Great Indian freedom strugglers. He said after gaining Freedom after a long struggle led by father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, India has made large strides in science, technology, space agencies, economics, industries and recorded an exponential rate of growth.

The Chairman also listed achievements recorded in Samba District on the development front. 

He mentioned construction of AIIMS at Vijaypur, 05 New Degree Colleges, additional District Hospital Block, Bunkers in the borders and 100 percent Covid vaccination of adult population. He said Samba has immense tourism potential and in this regard Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Purmandal-Utterbeni tourism Development circuit has been formulated at a cost of Rs 50 crore. Land has been handed over for construction of Medicity in the district thereby making Samba district a premier upcoming medical health destination in the country. He also listed the achievements under government of India schemes like PMAY, SBM, Ayushman, PMKISAN. He also hailed the security forces for maintaining round the clock alert and supreme sacrifices made by Indian Army, BSF, CRPF, JKP and other para military forces for the protection of the country.The special invitee for the Republic Day programme were Martyrs family, Ex Serviceman, Gallantry awardees, PRI members and other prominent citizens.The Republic Day Function also witnessed tableau presentations of department of Agriculture and Horticulture, JAL Shakti department, Transport department which were well received by the gathering present in the stadium. 

The Cultural programme presented by school children depicted the rich cultural heritage of the country.On the occasion, District Administration also presented mementos and certificates of commendation to District Officers, who exhibited exemplary work ethics and professionalism.AT DODA: The 73rd Republic Day was  celebrated with great enthusiasm, fervour and national spirit at Sports Stadium Doda, whereat   Chief Guest, Chairman District Development Council, Dhananter Singh Kotwal unfurled the tricolour and took salute of the march past comprising contingents of JKP, CRPF, SSB, JKAP, JKP, FPF, NCC Jr, NCC senior, Home Guard and scores of students from GDC Doda besides various schools of the district.Vice Chairperson DDC Sangeeta Rani Bhagat; Deputy Commissioner Vikas Sharma; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Abdul Qayoom; President MC Doda Ved Prakash Gupta; DDC members, ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti, Principal GMC, Commandant IRP 6th Btln, ASP, besides other senior officers from civil and police administration, Army, CRPF, IRP, BSF, elected members of MC Doda, PRI, prominent citizens, social workers, political activists and numbers of men, women and children were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman DDC highlighted the importance of Republic Day and stated that it is the most significant day in the history of India as on this day the law of the land, the constitution of India came into force after prolonged struggle and we became a Republic nation.This was a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity. He appealed to the people of Doda to work together for promoting national integration, communal harmony and peace in the district. He also listed numerous developmental projects and works undertaken in the district and informed about various measures taken by the UT Govt and district administration for the overall development of the district.He hailed naming of educational intuitions, roads and other public assets after the names of local Martyrs and prominent citizens.About the developmental process, he stated that Covid-19 initially was a great threat which could have slowed down the developmental works but due to the efforts of Prime Minister   Narendra Modi a series of steps have been taken of which the invention of the vaccine was one of the most significant developments. “Our district has achieved the 100 percent vaccination of the adult population and the process is on to vaccinate younger people, while precautionary booster dose is also being given to the old aged  and frontline functionaries” he noted.He said that like the other counterpart districts, the developmental scenario in Doda has also gained huge push in the recent past. “The best example of which is the second best ranking of the District under the Good Governance index" he said.

Main attractions of Republic Day celebrations  were Display of Tableaus, a cultural programme by the artists of JK Academy of Art Culture and Languages, besides other eye-catching performances of school students.Later, DDC Chairman, Vice Chairperson, Deputy Commissioner Doda, SSP Doda, distributed trophies among students for outstanding performances in cultural items and parades, etc.Similar function was held at Bhaderwah, where BDC Chairperson Omi Chand unfurled the National Flag. Besides the Republic Day celebrations were also reported from Subdivision headquarters of Assar, Thathri, Gandoh, tehsil headquarters, other District offices.AT RAJOURI: The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated across the Rajouri district with great fervor and national spirit.The celebrations were held at district headquarters, all additional districts, subdivisions and tehsil headquarters and at panchayats.The main function was organized at DPL ground Rajouri where the chief guest, District Development Council Chairman, Naseem Liyaqat unfurled the National Flag and took the salute.The contingents of JKAP, JK Executive Police, JK police band, CRPF, JK FPF, and SPO, NCC senior Boys and girls, NCC JUO Boys and contingents of different schools participated in March past, while DySP Purapkar Singh commanded the parade.Prominent among those present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal; DIG Rajouri Poonch, Vivek Gupta, SSP, Mohd Aslam; Commandant IRP 2nd Battalion , Khalid Amin; ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; Col Vishek Walia; ASP, Vivek Shkekar; SE PWD/Hydraulics; District Programme Officer ICDS, Kartar Singh; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; District heads of different departments and the public in thousand thronged the venue to witness the grand celebrations of the national event.

Besides, chairman MC Rajouri, Adv Mohammad Arif, Ward councillors and Ex VC PAB, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, and other senior citizens and political and Social activists also attended the programme.The zeal of the students and the contingents was worth seeing who gave their best performance braving the harsh winter morning which were highly liked and appreciated by the public with clippings on the occasion.The DDC Chairman, while extending warm greetings to the Rajouri public, highlighted the significance of the day. He said the day stands as a reminder of the handwork put in by our leaders in drafting the best constitution for the country, and this constitution came into force on 26, January 1950.The DDC Chairman said that India is competing with other developed nations and has proved mettle in Education-Agriculture-Science and Technology, Energy space Technology, Health and other sectors. He further said that we are proud that we are citizens of a great democratic nation where everyone is equal before the law.Regarding the development of the district, he added that the Government is working hard to provide the public better road infrastructure, healthcare facilities, quality education; road connectivity, electricity and water supply to left out villages besides ensuring social security to aged, physically challenged and widows and self-employment avenues to unemployed youth in the district.

Concerning the Education scenario, the DDC Chairman informed that several new colleges have been opened and schools have been upgraded."Free books have been distributed among 79572 students and scholarships have also been provided to 46198 Pahari speaking and 36000 ST students", he said."Rs 919 Crore has been approved under District Capex Budget this year, and 293 core expenditure has been made till date against an availability of Rs 400 crore", the DDC Chairman informed.He also informed that 11416 houses under PMAY-G have been completed till date and an amount of Rs 172 lakh have been released into the accounts of beneficiaries.Similarly, he also highlighted other developmental works being carried out in the district like water conservation works, double laning of Abdullah Bridge and BGSBU roads.A Felicitation ceremony was also held wherein the meritorious students, Officers, doctors and social workers were felicitated.The Republic Day celebrations event was well coordinated and managed by the stage secretary Sumit Bhargav.AT UDHAMPUR: The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor in district Udhampur.The main function was held in the premises of Government PG College, Boys Udhampur wherein District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand  was the chief guest who hoisted the National flag at 9:55 AM and took salute at an impressive march past of  09  contingents drawn from CRPF, SKPA, Volunteers Home Guards, District Police, NCC besides Police Band, took part in this national function.

While congratulating the mammoth gathering, the DDC Chairperson said that the Constitution of independent India was implemented on 26th Jan 1950, which provides fundamental rights to every citizen of the country.   He reiterated that on 26 January 1950, we the people of the Republic adopted the constitution that was framed by a committee headed by Dr. B.R Ambedkar. The constitution declares that India is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic. He also listed the achievements of the present Govt under the  guidance of  Lieutenant Governor adding that Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has embarked on a glorious path of development and prosperity with the earnest efforts being made to provide basic facilities such as electricity, water, health, employment, roads etc to the people. He said Udhampur District is also reaping benefits like any other districts of the country.  In this connection, he listed a number of major development projects under execution in the district like Devika Project, National Highway (NH-44, NH-244) project, Digital Land Management Programme, Yoga International Convention Centre Mantalai, Medical College and Degree Colleges at Udhampur,  Jal Jeevan Mission, Udhampur,  Solid Waste Management Project at Mand Udhampur.  He further said that these projects will lead the district to new heights of development.  A Scintillating cultural programme reflecting patriotism and rich culture and theme based Skits were also presented by the students and Artists which enthralled the audience.

At Ramnagar, the Republic Day function was held in the premises of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar, wherein MC President Ramnagar,   Banti Devi unfurled Tricolour on the occasion.

Similarly, the Republic Day function was also organized at Tehsil, Sub Divisional, Niabat level in District Udhampur with great pomp and show today.DDC Vice Chairperson, Juhi Manhas Pathania, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, SSP, Dr Vinod Kumar, President MC Udhampur, Dr. Jogeswar Gupta, BDCs, DDCs, ADDC Kanta Devi  and other senior officers from Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, AIR Force and Civil Administration besides  Councillors, and prominent citizens of the district were present on the occasion.AT KISHTWAR: The 73rd Republic Day was today celebrated across the District Kishtwar with great enthusiasm, fervor and national spirit.The main function which was held in the premises of the DC office complex Kishtwar, Chairperson, District Development Council Kishtwar, Pooja thakur was the Chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the Tricolor, inspected the parade and took salute at the March past   comprising contingents drawn from Police, IRP, CRPF, CISF, Forest Protection Force, Home guards and Boys and Girls wings of NCC battalion of GDC Kishtwar.Vice Chairperson District Development Council Kishtwar Saima Shabir Lone, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Shafkat Hussain Bhat, CO IRP Rajesh Sharma, CO 17 RR Ameya Chiplunkar, Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal, Vice President Municipal Council Kishtwar Sanjeet Kotwal, DDC members, Chairman Block Development Council Kishtwar, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, Joint Director planning Mohd Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar Akhter Hussain Qazi besides the senior officers of civil administration ,police,army, CISF, CRPF, prominent persons of the society among others remained present on the occasion.

Greeting the people, the DDC chairperson said the day has great significance as on this day India became a Secular, Sovereign, Socialistic and Democratic republic.She congratulated the people of Kishtwar on this auspicious occasion of National importance and aspired all to uphold constitutional values and ethics in letter and spirit.She hailed the contribution of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in framing the constitution of independent India which enshrined the values of equality, fraternity and universal brotherhood for every citizen of India.The DDC chairperson also listed the achievements made in the implementation of the flagship schemes in the district, including road connectivity to far flung areas of Dachhan, Marwah and Warwan.Listing the developmental scenario of district, chairperson briefed that the work on the Hydroelectric Power Projects Viz Pakal Dool HEPP, Kiru HEPP, Kawar HEPP is in full swing and has generated employment opportunities for youth of Kishtwar.The work on the  Ratle HEPP, Karthia HEPP and  Dul Hasti phase-2 HEPP will be started soon which will fully tap the power potential of the district and will bring the district  on the world map in the arena of power generation, she added.During her speech she briefed that during the year 2021-22 under PMDP various left out habitation have been electrified, the Black-Topping of a total of 208 km of roads have been completed besides the work on the road from Bhandarkoot to Nawapachi is in full swing.

She added that 114 units of dairy farms have been sanctioned to farmers and under one product one district, Kishtwar district has been selected for walnut production and in this regard 96349 kanals of land have been covered under the scheme by the Department of Horticulture.She further said that 3 Oxygen Generation Plants have been commissioned to effectively tackle the Covid crisis in the district,  besides 2 lakhs golden cards have been  generated and  1227 patients have availed the health benefits involving Rs. 118 Lakh. She further informed that 41 youth have been provided small commercial vehicles to start their livelihood in the transport sector under the MUMKIN scheme.On the occasion, a scintillating Cultural programme was also presented by the students with due observance of COVID-19 protocol.Besides, the District Administration gave away mementos and certificates of commendation to several officers for exhibiting exemplary work, ethics and professionalism. Meritorious students were also felicitated with awards.At Block level the National flag was hoisted by the concerned BDC chairpersons. National Flags were also hoisted at sub Divisional headquarters, tehsil and block headquarters, all the govt offices and Educational institutions.

AT REASI: The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, Reasi here today.Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag, who was the chief guest, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at March-past comprising  contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, IRP, JK Home Guard, NCC Boys Higher Secondary School, Girls Higher Secondary School and NCC unit of Government Degree College Reasi.Addressing the gathering, the  Chairperson appreciated the communal harmony and unity in diversity displayed by people of the district. He highlighted the developmental initiatives of the district in various sectors and achievements of the country since independence including the successful ‘Mission Mars’.Saraf Singh praised the ambitious Back to Village initiative and said that it has been instrumental in facilitating Government’s outreach to remote villages. He urged the public to resolve to follow traffic rules and fight against drug menace.A cultural programme was also presented by the students of Girls and Boys HSS Reasi, Government Degree College Reasi including a solo Patriotic song item.AT KATHUA: The 73rd Republic Day Celebrations was held with patriotic fervor  and gaiety across Kathua district.The mega function was held at Sports Stadium where DDC Chairman Mahan Singh unfurled the tricolour and took salute at March past comprising contingents of Army, Police, PTS, CRPF, and Boys and Girls wings of NCC battalion.While congratulating people, the DDC said the day has great significance as this very day India became Secular, Sovereign, Socialistic and Democratic Republic.Remembering the contribution of freedom fighters, the DDC Chairperson said freedom is hard earned through the innumerable sacrifices made by people who rose above everything and contributed selflessly for the cause.

He also exhorted upon the people to follow the ideals enshrined in the Constitution of India and never forget the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers who dreamt of an India making strides in every sphere.Referring to the contribution made by India on varied fronts, the Chairman DDC Kathua said under the leadership of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India is growing by leaps and bounds.Hailing the contribution of India in fight against Covid -19 pandemic, he said India has not only successfully inoculated its population but is also supplying vaccines globally which is in consonance with the philosophy of welfare of all.“India is marching abreast with fast developing economies of the world. The diverse and United India signifies the true ethos and strength of our constitution”, DDC Chairman added.Underscoring the importance of oneness and unity in diversity, he said the central government has extended the idea of One Nation One Vision One Identity to Jammu & Kashmir by delegating the powers to the PRIs thus paving the way for gross root level democracy and emphasizing on self reliant India (Atma Nirbhar Bharat).He said Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing the phase of devolvement where industries, roads and other important infrastructure is undergoing massive revamp which will foster the pace of development.Welcoming the step of making all tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions functional, the DDC said with the allocations of funds directly to the panchayats, BDCs, DDCs the local self governance is in line with the aspirations of locals wherein they are themselves part of development planning and execution.

He appealed to people to play their role and contribute to the development by availing the benefits of several tailor made schemes offered by different departments and other agencies of the government.A colorful cultural programme showcasing India's Rich Cultural heritage was presented by students of participating institutions.

The DDC Chairman also presented trophies, certificates to the best performers in the field of academics, sports and other co-curricular activities.Among others Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav,  vice chairman, DDC Raghunandan Singh,  DDC member Kathua Raghubir Singh, DDC Keerain Gandyal Kumari Shweta, DDC Dinga Amb Rimmi Charak, SSP Kathua, R.C Kotwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atul Gupta, ACR, Sandeep Seonitra, District Officers, prominent citizens and large number of people and students were present on the occasion.Republic Day celebrations were also held at the Sub-district, Tehsil and Block Headquarters of the district.AT RAMBAN: Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr, Shamshad Shan unfurled the National Flag at Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban where the district level function was organised to celebrate  73rd Republic  Day.

Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam, President MC Ramban, Sunita Sumbria, DDC Councilors,  SSP, Ramban, Mohita Sharma,   ADDC,  Rajinder Sharma,, ADC, Harbans Sharma, senior officers of armed forces and civil administration ,  PRIs and  prominent citizens   attended the function.The DDC Chairperson inspected the parade comprising contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, Home Guard and Army Band and took the salute.After greeting the enthusiastic audience including the locals, students, officers and government employees, she gave a brief account of the main developmental activities in the district during the current year.The Chairperson congratulated the District Administration Ramban for obtaining top rank in Social Welfare and Development sector, 2nd rank in Commerce and Industries sector and 5th rank in Agriculture and allied sector in Good Governance Index of UT of Jammu and Kashmir.She informed that land for Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram has been allotted to the concerned department for the construction of the same. She also presented a brief detail of achievements made by the different departments in their respective sectors.A colourful cultural programme based on patriotic themes was also presented by the Information Department and students of different schools which enthralled the audience.

The DDC chairperson, DC, SSP and other dignitaries also presented prizes to the performers of cultural programmes and parades.Some Officers, Officials, Sports Persons  and social workers were also awarded for outstanding performance in their respective fields.  R-day functions were also held in Gool, Banihal and Ramsoo Sub divisions besides tehsil headquarters of the district.At Poonch:   The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, fervor and national spirit here at Sports Stadium Poonch. Chief Guest, Chairperson District Development Council Poonch, Tazeem Akhter hoisted the tricolor and took salute on the March Past consisting of contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP,  Home Guard, JKPQRT Commando, NCC Cadets,  beside Police Band. DySP Sachin Gupta was the parade commander.All the COVID19 protocols were followed while performing different activities related to the function to avoid the risk of infection.The chief guest congratulated the country men and remembered the contribution of law makers and sacrifices made by security forces for upholding the unity and integrity of the country.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairperson listed various achievements registered during the current financial year and developmental works completed under various government schemes for the benefits of the common masses.  She informed that out of 178 villages 164 villages have been connected through all weather roads, while 54.50 KM road  has been blacktopped this year involving Rs.14.71cr.She further highlighted 128 mega schemes with an outlay of Rs 439 Cr. have been approved under flagship Jal Jeevan Mission to provide clean & potable water to 24427 households in the district.While counting notable works completed by the Rural Development Department, she said that during the current financial year 1128 works have been completed and 12986 works are under progress which created massive employment opportunities for unemployed rural folk.Taking ahead the slogan of the government to provide housing to all, she appreciated the achievements of the District Administration for completing 10075  houses with an expenditure of Rs.48 crore  out of 21196 approved houses  for rural areas and 417 houses  for urban areas.

The Chairperson also appreciated the role played by the District Administration, health department, Police and Paramilitary forces during the COVID-19 and reaching out to the public during this crisis like situation.Poonch has done exceptionally well in containment of this pandemic, she said and added that it was among the few first Districts to achieve the 100 vaccination of adult population. District has also completed 100 percent vaccination of teenagers (15-18 yrs).She complemented the efforts of the labour department for providing financial assistance to Rs  2.40 crore to 12010 building & other construction workers which helped this poor class during the period of covid lockdown.On the occasion, a colourful cultural programme was  presented which enthralled a gleefully cheering audience.Besides a large number of public, the program was graced by Vice chairperson district development council, DDC members, Deputy commissioner, senior superintendent of police, judges, BDC chairpersons, Bar Association members, ex- legislators, media persons, prominent and senior citizens, others senior officers from police and civil administration.The R-Day function concluded with felicitation of the students, government officers/officials for their extraordinary services rendered to society.Similar functions were organized in sub-divisions of Mendhar  and Surankote, Tehsils, Blocks and 229  Panchayats.
