Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today reiterated his resolve for severe punishments for the perpetrators of 1984 Sikh pogrom and said the time has come to punish architects of Sikh genocide. Talking to media persons after paying obeisance at Golden Temple here along with his wife and Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Badal said the SAD will soon discuss the ongoing legal proceedings with the Union Home Minister to ensure proper investigations and early hearings of the cases to put the perpetrators of this heinous crime behind bars. He added that NDA Government has build up the trust of Sikhs, who have been fighting for the last 30 years to get justice since the previous UPA government had tried their best to shield the culprits and awarded high posts to them in the party. Deputy Chief Minister said that SAD was confident that government of Mr. Narendra Modi would deliver the justice as early as possible by adopting every legal and administrative measure.

Answering a query regarding people’s mandate in recently concluded Lok Sabha polls in Punjab, SAD President Badal said they accept and respect the mandate of people. Adding further he said that SAD-BJP will soon start introspection exercise to gauge the performance of government vis-à-vis parties. He said the main focus of the ruling combine will remain the same that was all round development of state and welfare of all sections of society.Badal and Mrs. Badal also reviewed the 78.08 crore Golden Temple Plaza project and issued directions to the authorities concerned to conclude the construction before given deadline. Mr. Badal said the Plaza will be open for ‘Sangat’ in August since the flooring of 90000 sq feet has been completed and the tender of lighting worth Rs. 3.41 crore will also be awarded soon to a renowned company. He also reviewed the construction of multipurpose hall and state-of-the-art information center. 

He said there will also be a world class waiting hall for devotees and tourists. Meanwhile, Mrs. Badal said that phenomenal development in Food Processing area in the country as well as Punjab will be her priority and special efforts to be launched in this regard to improve the financial health of Punjab farmers. She said proposals for setting up of Food Processing units in Punjab and other states will be approved without any delay for the facilitation of peasantry.Earlier Mrs. Badal paid obeisance at Golden Temple and thanked the Almighty for bestowing a new responsibility upon her. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion Veer Singh Lopoke Chairman District Planning Board, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat, Police Commissioner Jatiinder Singh Aulakh and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Pardeep Sabharwal.
