Deputy Commissioner, Kathua  Rahul Yadav today convened a Public Grievance Redress Camp at Barnoti  to take appraisal of the issues, grievances and demands of the locals.A number of individuals and deputations led by PRIs put forth the issues related to the development and other amenities of their respective areas.Sarpanch Forlain-B West Panchayat raised the issue of erosion of land along the Ujh river and demanded erection of bunds to save the agriculture land of the locals. He further demanded timely supply of fertilizers and seeds to the farmers. He projected the issue of leakage of water pipes in his Panchayat and the problem of irregular drinking water supply.  The demand of a doctor in local PHC along with the provision of an ambulance was also raised. Naib Sarpanch Bohra demanded building for Health Centre besides complaining about problems faced by the inhabitants to get clean drinking water and to rely on local ponds, which is not safe for health.Panch Barwal (west) complained that there is an acute shortage of drinking water in his panchayat and  they are getting the supply of drinking water after 3 to 4 days. He also demanded a playground for the area to engage the youth.Sarpanch Mayee Chack demanded the early restoration of 11 hand pumps which have been lying defunct for the last few months.

Sarpanch Treda demanded panchayat ghar and pucca godowns for storage of grains at the mandi sites. He further demanded concrete irrigation canals and distributaries to avoid the wastage of water.Sarpanch Kishanpur Kandi put forth the demand of early start of works under the capex Budget.Sarpanch Jandore called for providing IAY benefits to the deserving people of his  panchayat. He demanded establishment of more mandis in the nearby areas to facilitate the farmers where they can easily sell their agricultural produce. He further demanded the regular supply of water in the canal for irrigation.Sarpanch Merth  Panchayat  demanded early payment of agricultural produce to the farmers.He also demanded a check on the illicit liquor in the area to save the youth.BDC Chairperson, Brejeshwar Singh while speaking on the occasion said that all the demands and problems raised by the PRI members are genuine and appealed to the various departments for the redressal of the same at the earliest. He said that power for the approval of maps for houses in the panchayat should be given to the Block Development Officer for the convenience of the people.The DC, Rahul Yadav gave patient hearing to the demands and problems of the people and passed immediate instructions to the concerned officers to take up the problems related to their respective departments and redress it in a given time frame.

He said that Block Diwas is meant to understand the problems faced by the people and mitigate them. He asked the PRI members to raise the genuine issues of their respective panchayats and we will work together to resolve them.Regarding the issue of soil erosion, he said that the same will be taken up with the concerned authorities. He stressed upon the officers to raise the work completion rate.On the issue of drug abuse, the Deputy Commissioner said that strong action will be taken against those found involved in the illicit liquor trade.The directions were passed to the revenue department to take action against the government land encroachers. Regarding the establishment of more mandis, Rahul Yadav said that at present there are 10 mandis and they will be increased in the coming years.He said that there is a target of 2400 houses to be built in the current financial year and passed instructions to the Rural Development department for achieving the same.He appealed to the PRI members to motivate the youth of their respective panchayats for self employment under various UT and center sponsored schemes.Earlier, Engineers of works department besides District and sectoral officers have detailed accounts of   status of problems and demands projected by the representatives.Similar Block Diwas camps were also organized at Billawar, Basohli, Bani and Hiranagar today.Among others  Assistant Commissioner Development , Chief  Animal Husbandry Officer , Chief Agriculture Officer ,Block Development officer Barnoti, XEN PMGSY, AEE PWD,XEN PHE and many other officers.
