The Punjab Government today invited the Axis Bank, which has been playing a crucial rule for making online payments to farmers, to invest in the sector of ‘Agriculture Rural Landing’ in the state.The request was made in a special meeting of Mr. Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, Food & Civil Supply Minister of Punjab with Mrs. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director of Axis Bank at Punjab Bhawan. Mrs Sharma was called on Mr. Kairon in connection with the opening of the 2000th branch of the bank at Mandi Ahmedgarh (District Sangrur)
During the meeting Mr. Kairon appraised the bank about revolutionary steps taken by the Punjab Government to sustain and boost the rural agriculture economy in the state. Mr. Kairon said that Punjab is first state in the country which has initiated a special project to make online payment to the Artiyas through ‘ruPay Debit Card’ within 48 hours of the procurement. The Minister eulogized the efforts the Axis Bank for installing ‘SWIPE’ machines across the state to facilitate the farmers drawing payment through debit card.
Kairon also conveyed his regard to the Axis Bank for choosing Punjab for the opening up of their 2000th branch in the state. Prominent among other present in the meeting included Mr. M.S. Sarang, Director Finance, Mr. R.K. Bammi, Executive Director and Mr. Amarjit Singh, Vice president and Circle Head Punjab of Axis Bank.
