District Level Committee clears 84 FRA claims

774 cases settled till date benefitting 3330 families

District Level Committee under Forest Right Act today cleared 84 claims in Rajouri here at its meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan.Among the others, DFO Rajouri, Arshdeep Singh; DFO Nowshera, Neelima; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ADC Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Sambayal; ADC Kalakote, Krishan Lal; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal; ADC Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma;  CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; AC Defence, Saleem Qureshi; CEO Education besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.BDC Chairperson Qila Darhal, Khalid Firdoz was also present in the meeting.After a threadbare discussion and scrutiny of all the claims put up in the meeting, the committee settled 84 cases of FRA benefiting over 967 families. Some cases were returned for completion of papers and some more cases are under scrutiny.It is worthwhile to mention here that seven meetings of the DLC have been convened as of now and as many as 774 claims have been settled including 84 claims settled in today's DLC meeting, thus benefiting 3330 families and 16650 souls.Pertinently, Rajouri Administration has devised an effective strategy to cover all the eligible beneficiaries under the Act. Weekly meetings of the DLC are convened and specific targets are assigned to the concerned to expedite the progress.Directions have been passed on to all the concerned to achieve the target of covering all beneficiaries under the Forest Rights Act in their respective areas.The Committee called for putting in place extra efforts for mobilising the public for availing the necessary benefits under the Act.It was decided in the meeting that the Range Officer concerned will submit the list of sites where forest fires usually take place.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned to keep a  close vigil on  green felling and made it clear that strict action would be taken against those found involved in damaging the forests.
