Drug and Food Organization, Jammu and Kashmir in coordination with Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra, Ramban today organized an awareness cum demonstration camp to celebrate National Unity Week, 'Jan Aushadhi Mitra Sammelan' here at District Hospital. Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion.Chief Medical Officer Ramban Dr. Mohammad Fareed; Medical Superintendent, Dr. Hameed Zargar; Assistant Drug Controller J&K, Surinder Mohan Tikoo; Assistant Drug Controller Jammu, Reasi Mohammad Iqbal Pala; Assistant Drug Controller Udhampur, Ramban, Ranuka Raina; Drug Inspector Ramban Imtiyaz Ahmed and pharmacists attended the programme.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest said that the event marks the start of weeklong celebration of National Unity Week to commemorate the birth anniversary of Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi has been launched with the objective to make quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all. Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Janaushadhi Kendras are opened to provide generic medicines to people at affordable prices, she added.While briefing about quality and efficiency of Generic Medicines of Jan Aushadhi, the Drug Controller impressed upon the Doctors to prescribe medicine available at Janaushadhi Kendra as it will benefit more marginalized and underprivileged families.In his address, the CMO said that availability of medicine in Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra at affordable rates to the general public is a very good scheme. Jan Aushadhi pharmacy opened at DH Ramban has benefited many people and there is a need to open more Jan Aushadhi Pharmacies in other areas of the district, he added. Other speakers also highlighted the role and contribution of Sardar Vallabha Patel for political integration of India.
