Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Yadav today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for the Diwali festival.The DC directed the PHE and PDD department to ensure round the clock electricity and drinking water supply in view of Diwali festival. He directed the Fire and Emergency services department to keep the fire tenders available to meet any eventuality. He further said that crackers can only be sold at town hall Kathua, the designated area identified by the district administration.He said the concerned departments will keep a check on the quality and rates of eatables, sanitation and encroachment in market places and other busy places in the town.The DC also directed the concerned teams to keep a check on the adulterated and synthetic milk products. He called for immediate seizure of adulterated sweets and other eatables and book such erring traders.The Legal Metrology Department was directed to keep a check on the weight and measure instruments especially during the festival season. He also passed instructions to the police and traffic department to put in place effective mechanisms to ensure smooth flow of traffic and security of important installations.CEO MC Kathua and EO Lakhanpur Municipality were directed to maintain cleanliness and take measures to avoid any congestion due to fruit and other vendors in the town markets besides pre Diwali and post Diwali cleanliness drives in the town areas.Among others DSP, HQ Kathua, Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD, Tehsildar, AD Fire & Emergency Services besides other district officers were present in the meeting.
