In a setback to the ruling Congress, veteran leader Ashok Pappi Prashar from Ludhiana joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with his associates. During a press conference held at the party headquarters here on Wednesday, AAP Punjab affairs in-charge and MLA Jarnail Singh, party’s senior leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, formally inducted Ashok Pappi Prashar, who held several posts including general secretary of the Congress in Ludhiana into the party along with hundreds of his associates.On the occasion, Jarnail Singh said that the joining of Ashok Pappi Prashar will definitely strengthen the party, as he has been playing an active role in socio-religious and other fields including politics.
He said that Ashok Pappi Prashar has held various posts including the constituency in-charge of the Congress in Ludhiana and general secretary of Punjab Congress.Apart from Ashok Pappi Prashar, his brother Rakesh Prashar, former MC councilor of Ludhiana also joined the AAP. Congress general secretary Harcharan Singh Rimpy, Mukesh Nayyar, Sandeep Sharma, Deepak Sharma, Suresh Parashar, Harman Deol, Sajan Salaria, Rishabh, Deepak, Mahesh and other Congress workers from Ludhiana also joined the AAP.Meanwhile, Ashok Pappi Prashar said that he will raise the flag of the AAP across Punjab with the vision of the party’s National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to work in the public interest. On this occasion, Ashok Pappi Prashar thanked the entire leadership of Punjab.
