The District Information Centre (DIC) Kupwara today organized a Mehfil-e-Mushaira as part of ‘Iconic Week’ celebration and as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign at Kupwara.The renowned poets of the district participated in the Mehfil-e-Mushaira and mesmerized the audience.The District Information Officer (DIO), Kupwara, Mohammad Yousuf Mir was the Chief Guest at the occasion.Speaking at the event, the DIO said that Kupwara district has rich cultural ethos and traditions, which needs to be carried forward to the new generations. He said the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) always provides a platform to uphold and sustain this rich cultural ethos.He exhorted upon the fair-minded and knowledgeable budding youth of the district to come forward and take part in the cultural and artistic activities in the district.The Mehfil-e-Mushaira was presided over by senior poet Mohammad Yousuf Mashoor.In his address, Mashoor complimented the efforts of the Information department in organizing literary and cultural activities in the district.The proceedings of the Mushaira were conducted by the poet and writer Abdul Gani Baigh Ather.The poets who participated in the Mushaira include Abdul Gani Mir, Ghulam Ahmad Kumar, Aadil Mohi-u-din, Haji M S Shooq, Abdul Aziz Mastana, Ghulam Rasool Sahil, M.Y Mashoor, Gulzar Jaffer, Mohammad Abdullah Shah, Faizan Qureshi, A G Baigh Ather, Abdul Ahad Hami, M.T Mir, and M.A Rahe.
