The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Friday visited Gurez valley to review the winter preparedness besides inspecting developmental activities. The meeting discussed the availability and dumping of essential commodities including ration, LPG, medicines etc in Gurez division for the upcoming winter season.Regarding medical facilities, the DC was briefed by CMO Bandipora that ample stock of medicines and other essential items are being dumped for upcoming winters. DC urged the concerned to enhance the pace of vaccination to cover 100 percent population. Dr Owais also directed the concerned to dump enough stock of fire wood and other essentials for smooth functioning of offices and asked the officers to ensure 100 percent attendance in government offices during winters. While reviewing the progress of developmental works, the DC directed the officers to complete all developmental projects within stipulated time. He was informed that 87 works out of the 178 approved works have been tendered and works are in progress.It was given out that all the required fuel for DG Sets shall be dumped by mid October to ensure electricity as per schedule during winters. 

The DC appreciated the work of Sheep and Animal husbandry   for maintaining livestock this year and conducting regular checkups and vaccinations to the livestock in difficult terrains of Gurez Meadows. Dr Owais directed ARTO Bandipora to conduct driving tests, and fitness related processes at Gurez also for issuance of Driving License.  He also directed the Mechanical wing of R&B to make available snow clearance machines and equipment before the start of winters. The DC directed the concerned to cover all roads with macadamization to enhance the road infrastructure. ALC was directed to conduct camps for providing Labour cards at Gurez.The DC also reviewed distribution of dry ration through PRIs and urged people to work in coordination with PRIs. He directed deposit officers to dump the required ration at earliest. On the occasion DDC member appreciated Dr Owais for visiting the valley to review winter arrangements and hearing public grievances for early redressal of the same.The DC was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zahid, DDC members; SDM Gurez, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, ACD Bandipora, DFO, CMO, ARTO, Tehsildar Gurez and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
