Netflix has never failed to impress it’s audience with some of the highly loved and intriguing shows since years. This year, the OTT platform is heavily lined up with some brilliant series and TV shows that audience and fans are desperately and anxiously looking forward to. Be it originals or sequels and successive seasons, here are some of the most anticipated upcoming series to watch out for in 2021, from 'Money Heist' and 'Lucifer' to 'Sex Education' and 'Cowboy Bebop’. 

#1 Money Heist, Season 5

One of the most anticipated series of the year, Money Heist, Season 5, Part 2 will soon be available for the audience to stream on Netflix, on September 3. The thriller has already completed four successful seasons and will now be back for it’s fifth one, and more fun and entertainment is guaranteed! Revolving around the showman, named as ‘The Professor’, who became everyone’s favourite character no sooner than the show was launched, who is an esteemed criminal mastermind and plans to pull off the biggest heist in history, that of printing billions of euros in ‘The Royal Mint of Spain’. The show gains momentum when the eight recruited criminals get ready for a face off with the police. 

#2 Lucifer, Season 6

Another of the highly loved and awaited series coming up on Netflix this year, with lead actors Tom Ellis and Lauren German returning as ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Chloe Decker' respectively, with an all new season 6. Based on DC Comics, the mystery drama revolves around the titular character, the king of hell, who gives up his dissatisfactory kingdom  and descends in Los Angeles to start up a new life, the one that he desires, full of women, wine, and music. This season will reportedly wrap up with the story and will hit Netflix on September 10. 

#3 Midnight Mass

This supernatural horror series by Mike Flanagan will be available on Netflix on September 24, and will surely prove to be quite promising, as the show's creator has already proved his amazing storytelling skills with some hit series like, ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ and ‘Hush’. The story synopsis of this Netflix Original goes, “The arrival of a charismatic young priest brings glorious miracles, ominous mysteries and renewed religious fervor to a dying town desperate to believe.”

#4 Sex Education, Season 3

Featuring ‘The Fall' fame, Gillian Anderson and the ‘Ender's Game’ fame, Asa Butterfield, the comedy drama will be back with an all new third season on Netflix, on September 24.Focusing on a highly taboo topic and the one that makes for the most concerning social issue ever, the series dives deep into the various aspects and concepts of sex education, in it’s own humorous way. The story synopsis goes like, “Insecure Otis has all the answers when it comes to sex advice, thanks to his therapist mom. So rebel Maeve proposes a school sex-therapy clinic.”

#5 Cowboy Bebop

All set to roll out on Netflix, on November 19, the epic sci-fi anime will reprise itself into a live action version and fans are desperately rooting for this one with all their hearts. ‘Cowboy Bebop’ remains one of the most popular Anime shows of all times in the United States and has also garnered several awards over time.With a bunch of bounty hunters hunting down  criminals across the galaxy, the series stars ‘Harold and Kumar' fame,  John Cho, who will play the lead character, Spike Spiegel. 

#6 The Witcher, Season 2

The Polish-American fantasy drama was first launched on Netflix, in December 2019, and went ahead to be the most watched series of the time, and so will now return for a sequel, only to entertain the audience with double fun and intriguing story. Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and based on the novel series of the same name, the second season will hit Netflix on December 17.

#7 Nailed It! Season 6

Having made it’s debut in 2018, the reality series has been hosted by Nicole Byer and revolves around a bunch of baker participants, who compete against each other to win the price money of $10,000 along with the prestigious trophy, by baking some of the best and complicated confectionery. Esteemed to be the OTT platform's most loved and watched reality series of all times in recorded history, this blockbuster show will now be back with season 6, on September 15.

#8 Dear White People, Season 4

Another one revolving around a social stigma and a highly prevalent issue, the series has been written and directed by Justin Simien, and will roll out on Netflix with it’s fourth season, on September 22, after a whopping four years since it’s debut in 2017. The show follows the lives of a bunch of black students, at the Ivy League college, Winchester University, predominated by white students, and the prejudices and discrimination that they are subjected to, on their race.
