Expressing his concerns on illegal weapons and drugs being pushed into Indian territory from across the border, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson of the AICC Mr. Manish Tewari today demanded that the Central Government must install anti Drone technologies to stop the smuggling into Punjab with use of drones. Mr. Tewari also informed that he had already written a letter to Union Home Minister on this sensitive issue.Addressing a press conference Mr. Tewari, expressing his worries on current situation in Afghanistan, said that the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan has given strength to the divisive forces working in neighbouring Pakistan and it could be harmful for the interests of Indian border states particularly Punjab and J&K.Member of Lok Sabha said that ISI was continuously working to sabotage peace in India and everyone could see the smuggling of drugs and weapons into our territory through drones in this context. Though our forces, which are on high alert, have successfully foiled many such bids but there are doubts that some of them may be successful in achieving targets. He lauded the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government for successfully tackling the COVID pandemic and saving the state’s economy despite the nonresponsive attitude of the central government and pandemic.  He also said that though the central government has gone to the extent to put financial burden by stopping the RDF and GST share of Punjab, but the state remained economically firm due to the visionary leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh.“Punjab CM is sincere and has vast experience. Punjab needs such leadership in the coming state assembly elections, which don’t hesitate in putting individual political interests at stake to save the interests of the state. Captain Amarinder Singh has all such merits” added Mr. Tewari.

Talking on the ongoing protest of cane growers Mr. Tewari said that the central government has never given MSP on Sugarcane crop, whichever rates the state governments announce that only doesn’t work more than advisories to the sugar mills. That is why it is the necessity that the central government should announce MSP for sugarcane crop also like other 22 crops, demanded the Member Parliament. He also said that they are firmly stand with the farmers and their Member Parliaments have also presented resolutions against the black farm laws but these resolutions could not have discussed due to the logjam in the recently concluded Monsoon Session of Parliament.  He also said that they have also put demand before the Speaker of Lok Sabha to call a special session to discuss these resolutions.Referencing to the deaths due to shortage of oxygen in Delhi during the peak of pandemic, Mr. Tewari said that at that critical situation the Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh not only provided treatment to the residents of the state but also to the people who came from outside for treatment. Terming the vaccine distribution system of Central government unsuccessful, Mr. Tewari said that states, where the governments are being run by the opposition parties, could not get vaccines supplies as per requirements while the state governments being run by the BJP are getting supplies on everyday basis. He also said that the congress government in Punjab has almost fulfilled all the promises made in its election manifesto and remaining which are few in number would also be fulfilled soon.  Mr. Tewari expressed hope that in the coming days the state government and congress party would work with better coordination and the party definitely would form government again in Punjab. On being asked about Bargari issue, Mr. Tewari said that during the SAD-BJP Government the investigation was handed over to C.B.I and had also recommended for closing of the case after five years of investigation, but it was the Punjab CM who reopened the case and filed chargesheet.  He also said that the investigation, which had got derailed due to an officer, had been given to the new investigation team which was going on and justice would be delivered soon.  On the occasion MLA Mr. Sunil Dutti, Mr. Pawan Diwan, Mr. Jugal Kishore, Mr. Rajkanwalpreet Singh Lucky, Mr. Sanjay Kumar were present among the others.Earlier Mr. Tewari paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and Durgiana Mandir. He also visited Partition Museum.
