Punjab Education and Public Works Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Saturday, inaugurated Government Degree College at village Roshanwala constructed at cost of 12.23 crore.  While speaking on the occasion Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Government Degree College constructed over an area of 7 acres has also started enrolling students for the current academic year so that students from nearby areas do not have to go to Sangrur or Patiala for higher education courses. He said that admissions in B.A. and B.Com degree courses have been started initially.  He said that based on the demands of the people of the area more vocational courses would also be started during the forthcoming academic session.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla informed that a modern building covering 58,310 square feet covered area has been prepared for the college which includes administrative block, two storey classroom block for arts and science sections;  a total of 17 lecture halls and 5 labs, library and multipurpose halls for teaching as well as other activities.  

Mr. Singla said that a 15 KW solar power system has also been installed on the roof of the college building. The Cabinet Minister said that due to non-availability of government degree college in the area, the students had either to go to government colleges in far flung cities or pay exorbitant fees of private colleges.  He said that the sole objective of the Congress government is to provide every facility to the residents of villages and cities as close as possible.  He said that a 200-meter outdoor athletic track, basketball court and volleyball court have also been set up in this government college for sports activities. Prominent among others included Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ramvir, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Rajinder Singh Batra, College Principal Mr. Sukhbir Singh, PWD XEN Vipin Bansal, Chairman Zila Parishad Jasveer Kaur, Sarpanch Pappu Roshanwala, Chairman Pardeep Kad, Vice Chairman Hari Singh Faguwala, Chairman Virinder Panwa, Ranjit Singh Toor, Vice Chairman Baljit Kaur, Balwinder Singh Ghabdia, Virinder Mittal, representatives of village panchayats of the area and Congress workers were also present.
