The Road Kisan Sangharsh Committee today lifted it's protest being held at YPS chownk, near Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's Patiala residence today after their demands of fair price for their land acquired for Delhi-Amritsar-Kattra expressway were met. The committe thanked the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government and Member Parliament from Patiala, Preneet Kaur for the compensation provided to them during a meeting at CM's official residence with Mrs. Preneet Kaur.On the occasion Lok Sabha Member Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has always stood by the farmers and now has also ensured that due compensation is provided to the farmers of 11 villages of Patran tehsil by the National Highway Authority of India. She thanked the Chief Minister, Punjab Government, district administration and especially the SDM Patran Palika Arora for resolving this issue.Preneet Kaur informed that the National Highway Authority of India had acquired the land of the farmers for Delhi- Katra Expressway, but the farmers were not satisfied with the compensation provided to them for their land, after which the Punjab Government and District Administration intervened to ensure that adequate compensation is provided to these farmers.
She further informed that as per the award passed by SDM Patran on May 31, 2021, for the land acquired in 11 villages of Tehsil Patran, Rs. 1 crore per acre compensation has been given for the adjoining land along the Ghagga main road and Rs 58 lakh per acre for other villages.The Patiala MP further informed that for the distribution of this compensation a limit of Rs. 250 crore has already been released to the SDM Patiala, out of which Rs.100 crore has already been disbursed to the farmers and landowners. Expressing satisfaction over this, the Sangharsh committee of these farmers has ended its protest today, for which the farmers leaders deserve praise.Jagjit Singh Goleli, District President, Road Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Patiala said that the farmers have ended their dharna today by accepting the compensation given by the government.He further said that they came here to personally express their gratitude to MP Patiala Preneet Kaur, CM Capt. Amarinder Singh, the Punjab Government and the district administration. The Farmer Leaders also praised Patran SDM Palika Arora for her efforts.He was accompanied by Vice President Nirankar Singh Shutrana, Ranjit Singh, Rachpal Singh Ghagga, Paramjit Singh Galoli, Simranpreet Singh Galoli, Treasurer Ramandeep Singh Kamalpur and Jaswinder Singh Jassi.Also present were PRTC Chairman K.K. Sharma, Information Commissioner Amrit Pratap Singh Honey Sekhon, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajesh Sharma, Private Secretary Balwinder Singh and Chairman Market Committee Patran Tarlochan Singh.
