MC Launches Special Three Week Drive For Expeditious Desilting Of Nalas

With a view to preventing urban areas from water logging during rainy season, the Municipal Corporation has kickstarted a special three-week drive to ensure desilting of nalas in the city and its outer areas.Launching the drive from Red Road to Choe Bandh, the Municipal Corporation has also chalked out a detailed plan to cover all areas expected to be water logged during rains.Mayor Surinder Kumar said that the desilting of nalas would remain operational with requisite manpower till August 4 as per scheduled prepared in this regard. He said that the requisite machinery and manpower had also been provided and deployed at different sites to tackle any untoward situation in monsoon.Giving details in this regard Commissioner Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur Aashika Jain said that the flow of water in nalas would be maintained in view of the ensuing rains. She said that special focus would also be laid in low-lying areas besides containing the situation of over flow, if any.

The Municipal Corporation have identified almost all nalas in the city and its adjoining areas for cleaning of silt to ensure uninterrupted flow.The Municipal Corporation has also made it mandatory to get desilting work certified from respective councillors’ on its completion, said Aashika Jain adding that as per schedule these areas would be covered between two and three days. The teams deployed for desilting are being covered the areas namely Red Road to Choe Bandh Road, CIA Staff to Choe Bandh Road and Premgarh to Sutehri  Khurd from July 15.Similarly, desilting work will be executed in Purhiran area on July 18, Bharwain Road on July 21, Shastri Nagar on July 24, Hariana Road on July 27, petrol pump to Niara Road on July 29 and Officers Colony, Singriwala on July 30. The work on Dagana Road would be initiated on July 31 followed by Piplanwala Left and Right Side on July 2 and 4 respectively. The teams comprising of 20 to 60 persons have been deployed for accomplishing this drive, she added.
