Strict enforcement of Covid SOPs helped in uninterrupted execution of dev projects : Mussarat Islam

Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today said that strict enforcement of Covid Safety protocols at the construction sites helped in uninterrupted execution of National Projects in the district even during 2nd Covid surge.Speaking at the periodic media briefing, the DC said the administration has ensured testing, vaccination and isolation facilities for workers at each work site to prevent spread of Covid infection.He said the administration is determined to execute all development projects sanctioned under District Capex Budget and UT as well as centrally sponsored Schemes in the district by following Covid protocols.The DC said that during the 2nd surge a total 3633 positive cases were reported in the district of which 3460 have recovered and discharged. He further added that presently there are 130 positive cases out of which only 1 patient is under treatment in Covid Care Centre, District Hospital, Ramban and rest are in home isolation, while the district has witnessed 43 Covid deaths. The DC said that over 2000 people are being vaccinated on a daily basis. “The rate of vaccination will be further scaled up to achieve the target of vaccinating  1.21  lakh persons in the 18-44 year age group, which forms 43% of total population of the district” he informed. It was informed that the district administration is fully prepared and has geared up health functionaries in all Medical blocks including Gool, Banihal, Batote and Ukhral for achieving 100% target of vaccination.The DC also exhorted upon the youth to take vaccination and encourage others for the same. 

He said that the Health Department is well prepared to provide the best health care to the people.He informed that all the paraphernalia is being supplied to the rural Covid Isolation centres established in all 143 Panchayats. “As many as 107 centres have also been provided with Medical Oxygen Concentrators. For the rest the Oxygen Concentrators would be supplied by Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation very soon” he said. The DC said that work on installation of machinery is in progress on the 1500 LPM Medical Oxygen Gas Plant and it will soon start functioning. Similarly, work on 300 LPM Medical Oxygen Gas Plants each at Banihal and Batote Hospitals is also in full swing,” he added.Responding to the media queries, the DC said that the imposition of fine for violation of Covid Safety protocols and intensive testing and vaccination has paid well. He said that 1.63 Lakh tests including 44000 RTPCR have been conducted in the district to trace the positive patients.The DC said that while taking strict action against the violation of Covid safety protocols, the enforcement teams have recovered about Rs 8 Lakh of fine from the violators in the last seven days. He said that ARTO and Police have also launched a special drive to implement the order regarding plying of vehicles at 50% of total seating capacity.He said keeping in view the apprehension of resurgence of Covid infection, the District Administration has ordered the Enforcement teams to take strict action against violators, especially at tourist spots of Patnitop, Sanasar and Dagantop etc.The DC informed that the Education department has started   community classes with due observance of Covid safety protocol for facilitating 53000 enrolled students in different Government schools of the district. The teaching staff has been directed to focus on students who are unable to take benefit from online classes and offline study material provided by the Education Department. He said the District Administration will provide all necessary help in this regard.Referring to relaxation in Covid restrictions in the district, the DC urged the people to avoid going to crowded places.
