To discuss the modalities for formulation of District Development Plan 2021-22, District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam convened a meeting of Block Development Chairpersons (BDC)s and senior officers, here today. Block Development Chairpersons, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer and other concerned officers attended the meeting.The DDC asked the Superintendent Engineer, PWD to mobilize his department to register contractors at Panchayat level for execution of the development works at local level. He also directed all district and sectoral officers to provide hard copy of Plan and status of allocation to all BDCs and DDC members to enable them to discuss the same with other stakeholdersWhile highlighting the role of elected PRIs, the DDC said that the District Development Plan has assumed immense significance after the formulation of District Development Councils, Block Development Councils thereby completing the three tier PRI system to ensure democratic decentralization. He informed that for the first time, proportionate funding to all three tiers of PRIs is being ensured to cater to the development aspirations of the people through DDCs, BDCs and Panchayats.The DDC urged the BDCs to discuss the plan with DDC members which will help effective need based development in the district besides meeting needs of the people. He added that it will facilitate the members in better planning and implementation of several schemes under the plan.The DDC also sought their cooperation in Covid management, vaccination and SEHAT registrations.Earlier, the CPO highlighted the schemes and other major components of the District Development Plan for the current fiscal year. He exhorted upon the members to identify the works already taken up in previous plans and further appealed to them to work with synergy to achieve development goals.
