To raise awareness about the COVID19 vaccination drive being carried out in the district, the District Administration Rajouri in collaboration with the Health and Family Welfare Department under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan organised a daylong awareness workshop for the PRIs and Ulmas here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow.Among the others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria; District Panchayat Officer, Chander Kant Bhagat; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; Deputy CMO, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi; District Immunization Officer, Dr Parveen Yograj; District ASHA Coordinator, Dr Farooq Mir; DySP Her, Zahir Abhas; Block Development Officers besides PRI members and the Ulmas attended the workshop.During the workshop, the District Immunization Officer gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about the progress achieved under the vaccination drive in the district besides he also suggested several appropriate ways which can be adopted to remain safe from the deadly Coronavirus.The participants were informed that the third phase of the COVID19 vaccination drive has been launched in the country today and in this phase, as many as 179875 persons of the district above forty-five years of age have been targeted to be vaccinated. They were also informed that 42 COVID19 vaccination centres have been set up at different locations in the district and as of now as many as 34842 persons have been vaccinated in the district.

Participants were also told that 13078 persons above sixty years and 139 PRIs have been vaccinated to date.While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration Rajouri is taking all possible measures to mitigate the pandemic in the district but with the upsurge in the number of Covid cases in the district, the need for an hour is to double the efforts and he sought active cooperation of the public in this regard.The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the PRIs and Ulmas to get themselves vaccinated first as they are the role models for the common masses and the people will follow in their footsteps. He asked them to generate massive awareness among the general public about the ways which can be adopted to remain safe from CoronaVirus infection and the vaccination drive being carried out in the district. They were also asked to ensure a hundred per cent vaccination and sampling of the persons for COVID19 testing in the areas of their respective jurisdictions.Imams were advised to use Mosque megaphones for awareness purposes as it is an effective way for creating awareness among the masses.The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned from the Health Department to get all the persons of the district above the age of 45 years vaccinated within ten days. He also asked the PRIs and Ulmas to motivate the public to get themselves registered under the SEHAT scheme so that they can avail themselves of the necessary benefits under the said scheme.
