The Punjab State Women Commission today held a high level meeting with the In charge of all women cells set up in the state motive to sensitize the government machinery to curb the crime against women.While presiding over the meeting Miss Paramjeet Kaur Landran directed the Police Officers, Incharge of Women cells, in the state to solve the sensitive issues related to women on the priority basis. She asked the officers to depute Lady investigating officer in the cases of sexual harassment. She exhorted the officers to sensitize the public about the working of women cells so that they could easily avail the services of police to mitigate the violence against the women folk.

She further said that 277 cases have been come up before the commission for hearing, out of which 40 cases have been solved with mediation between both the parties. She said that the Commission would request the state Government to upgrade the infrastructure in the women cells so that working of these centers could be made swift.  

Veer Pal Kaur Tarmala, Shobha Rana (members of Women Commission), Mr. Himmat Singh (Member Secretary of Punjab States Women Commision), Mrs. Shashi Prabha Diwedi (IG, Crime), Rajneesh Kumar Jassal (Deputy Director), Social Security and members of women and children welfare department were part of this meeting.
