District Fatehgarh Sahib is leading the way in the state in MGNREGA by generating 23.62 lakh mandays against the target of 19.00 lakh which is highest in Punjab. This was disclosed by Amrit Kaur Gill, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib here at Bachat Bhawan while honoring the staff of Rural Development department and MGNREGA.The deputy commissioner further disclosed that 80 percent women workers got employment under this scheme and total 8516 Households were provided 100 days employment. She added that Fatehgarh Sahib generates rejected transactions timely because of which timely payment to workers has also been ensured in the district and with nil pending regeneration, Fatehgarh Sahib is leading in the state regarding this aspect also. She said that 73.43 average days employment have been provided to MGNREGA workers which is also highest in Punjab.District Fatehgarh Sahib implemented MGNREGA in all Gram Panchyats with benefits to registered workers for employment & execution of works. Geo tagging regarding MGNREGA works is also 100% and the work completion rate is 71% in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner further disclosed that five medicinal plant nurseries have been established under MGNREGA which includes plants like Tulsi, Ajwain, Mint, Alovera, Ashwgandha etc. Moreover, 25 Model Ponds have been constructed with the cost of 317.15 lakh, 22 Rain Water Harvesting Systems with the cost of 80.12 lakh and 35 Soak Pits constructed with the cost of 03.50 Lakh.To encourage the youth towards sports activities, 25 Model Play Grounds have been constructed with the cost of 308.75 Lakh, 32 Parks with the cost of 102.25 Lakh and 15 Open Gyms have been constructed with the cost of 218.48 Lakh. Amrit Kaur Gill said that all these achievements were the result of the hard work of the staff of the Rural Development Department and MGNREGA. She motivated the staff to work with the same zeal in the future also.
