Malik to go on with hunger strike at Jantar Mantar Today

Amidst threats from right wing Bajrang Dal, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front Chairman Yasin Malik remained adamant to go on with the proposed 48-hour hunger strike at Jantar Mantar here to press government of India to return the mortal remains of JKLF founder Maqbool Bhat and Mohammad Afzal Guru. According to sources, the strike would start at 2. 30 PM.“We will start the hunger strike today,” Malik Said. 

Prominent among who are expected to join Malik at antar Mantar include Kudip Naar, Seema Mustafa, Prem Shankar Jha and several academicians.JKLF also demands information about the thousands of disappeared people in Kashmir valley from the last two decades of turmoil.“We will demand as to why the relatives of the victims of the fake encounter in Machil are being threatened by the security agencies and to reduce the life imprisonment punishment given to around 32 Kashmiris,” a JKLF spokesperson added.Chairperson of the Association of Parents the Disappeared Persons (APDP) Parveena Ahangar and the relatives of the people convicted for life. Pertinent to mention that the Delhi Police had not given permission to Malik to organize hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.
