In a unique initiative in larger public interest, the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Saturday unveiled ‘Every Ward, Every Village’ awareness drive to make general masses more vigilant in wake of rising COVID cases.On the directives of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who spoke with the Minister about the COVID situation in Hoshiapur two-days back, Sunder Sham Arora reiterated that it was high time for all of us to become more sensible to contain the spread of Coronavirus. Under the awareness drive, teams of 20 persons in every ward and every village would make the people aware about the ill-effects of COVID-19 besides encouraging them not to be complacent in adhering COVID related directions. He also appealed the people to wear masks properly whenever they were stepping out of their homes, which was need of the hour amid increasing number of virus infection. The awareness drive has been commenced in the wards of the Hoshiarpur and from Sunday it will take place in villages too, said the Minister adding that the elected representatives, social and religious bodies should also come forward to play a pivotal role to aware maximum people, which could save many lives.The Minister also informed that the Punjab Government was spreading the awareness message at all the prominent places of city and rural areas besides roping in 15 e-rickshaws to cover all the 50 wards. The people will also be sensitized about the COVID through a message to be played in these e-rickshaws, he added.

Dispelling various misconceptions and rumours about the COVID vaccine, Sunder Sham Arora mentioned that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, he himself , Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait and lakhs of other people had got themselves vaccinated then why people are worrying to take vaccine. He also gave a clarion call to eligible beneficiaries in the district to reach their nearby hospitals and health centres for taking jab of COVID vaccine as soon as possible. He informed that nearly one lakh beneficiaries had been inoculated so far in the district with 10,000 doses were being administered daily as the District Administration had already ramped up the existing 70 health teams to 100. Apart from Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers, banking sector, schools, colleges and other department are being covered, said the Minister now more than 70,000 ex-servicemen would be covered in coming days.In a fervent appeal to the all political parties the Minister said that getting fateh (contain) coronavirus was not a difficult challenge but this could only be ensured with the wholehearted support and cooperation of general public, all political parties. He asserted that all of us should stand in unison to keep the virus at bay by adhering all the safety protocols in letter and spirit.The Minister also pointed out that there were nearly three lakh families in the district covered under Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, which further tough to nearly 10 lakh people including their members and the patients could get treatment in any empanelled hospitals of Hoshiapur and other districts. He said that if anyone was facing any problem regarding treatment under Ayushman Card, he/she can directly contact the District Administration and his office without any hesitation.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Chairman Improvement Trust Advocate Rakesh Marwaha, District Congress President Dr. Kuldeep Nanda, Urban President Mukesh Dabar, Rural Block President Captain Karam Chand, Sarpanch Kuldeep Arora, Advocate Naveen Jairath, Shadi Lal, Manmohan Singh Kapoot, Anil Kumar, Rajnish Tandon, Gulshan Rai etc.
