The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today convened a meeting of Jal Shakti Department to review the status of supply, availability, purification and shortages/ scarcity of drinking Water in the district.Addressing the meeting, the DDC emphasized the need to demonstrate cumulative efforts from all concerned in ensuring adequate and safe drinking water is available to all souls.He said water is worthless and simultaneously natural water is beyond pricing. He said the department of Jal Shakti is required to mobilize all sources, man power, expertise and techniques in ensuring that the message of rain water harvesting and ground water management and recycling and re use shall reach every nook and corner of the district.The DDC said that the department shall utilize the services of all concerned staff including AEEs, JEs in coordination with concerned BDOs who during the campaign will provide all necessary support in making the message result oriented. Earlier, S.E Hydraulics Siraj u Din Shah gave a detailed presentation of the functioning of the department and its field staff. He apprised the meeting that all resources have been mobilized to make the water week campaign prove a success.The S.E said that their efforts are primarily focused on to enhance the quality of supply and that every source site and other ground water sources are being rejuvenated and renovated. He said effort will be to ensure to plug all loose discharges and other leakages, besides they shall keep close vigil to ensure supply available is being utilized judiciously.The meeting among others was attended by Ex. Engineer PHE Budgam/Chadoora Najeeb Tramboo, Ex. Engineer Irrigation /FSC Narbal all AEEs, AEs, JEs and other field staff.
