District Level Mela held at Budgam

The District Programme Office Budgam today organised a one day District Level Mela at Beheshte Zahra Park, here. On the occasion the Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the district had installed their stalls at the venue to showcase various self, handmade products which is the source of their employment and income.The daylong programme was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza.The DC on the occasion inspected the stalls and appreciated the SHGs for their efforts to make themselves financially independent. While addressing the gathering of SHGs, the DC said that there are 4000 registered SHGs across the district Budgam which are involved in many handmade crafts and products,  providing various employment opportunities to hard working self help groups. He stressed that SHG members should involve more and more unemployed youth which will empower them socially and economically.The DC also said that the district administration is looking for some permanent marketing site for the SHGs where they can sell their products conveniently.During the program, the SHG ‘Jannat’ and ‘Muskaan’ were given certificates of appreciation. Besides, medals were also given to various Block Community Members (BCMs) as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performance.The day-long programme was also attended by Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture officer, Officers and officials from Sheep and Animal Husbandry departments and other concerned.
