DC Ganderbal kick starts Chinar plantation drive

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today kick started Chinar plantation drive by planting few Chinar saplings in the lawns of Mini Secretariat, here.The Chinar plantation drive was organized by Floriculture department Ganderbal.Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the purpose of the drive is to enhance the green cover in the district and to create an eco-friendly environment. He said that Chinar being the heritage tree, around 2000 Chinars shall be planted during the drive in the district.Realizing the importance of Chinar trees, he stressed for involvement of every section of the society in Chinar plantation and also called for involvement in their conservation.The Assistant Floriculture Officer Ganderbal informed that Chinar saplings are available at Zanana Park Fatehpora Ganderbal, Wullar view Park Bandipora which shall be provided free of cost to Educational institutions, NGOs and other Government Departments/PSUs and general public also.Assistant Floriculture Officer Ganderbal besides other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
