Terming the Kashmiri youth as the torch bearers of freedom movement, head of JK Awami Majlis-e- Amal and Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed that they (youth) should exhibit unity and provide strength and stability to the right to self determination struggle till it reaches its logical end.Addressing a gathering organized by Majlis at Kawdara in old city, Mirwaiz said that Islam was the supreme religion and politics formed one of its significant parts. Tracing the relationship between Majlis and freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir, he said AMA has offered innumerable sacrifices since 1931 for the cause. He said the cause for which the sacrifices were laid would reach to its logical conclusion. Informing the gathering about the important role played by the Hazrat Bulbul Shah (RA), Mir Syed Ali hamdani (RA) and Mirwaiz family in disseminating Islamic teachings and stirring consciousness among the masses, Mirwaiz said that historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar always advocated the cause of Kashmiri Muslims.
Apart from being its progressive role both in politics and religion, he said the pulpit of Jamia Masjid always resisted pulls and pressures of despotic authorities while as it continued to represent the true aspirations and emotions of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.He said Mirwaiz family has always worked hard to awaken political and religious consciousness among the Nation, adding, besides playing a critical role in spreading education and bringing in social reforms in the society. Stressing that their politics was in accordance with the religion, he said rise and fall in freedom movement are the part of the struggle. He said people should not get dejected, even they should make them more firm to fight for their cherished goal with renewed vigor and zeal. Mirwaiz said that now pro-freedom Indian parties were too accepting that Kashmir was an issue and were crying for its resolution.Mirwaiz said the time has proved that the reason, for which the AMA was formed by the late Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq, was right. He said nowadays freedom has become a rallying call in both rural and urban areas. He stressed upon the AMA members and activists to put forth the programmes of the party to show their solidarity with the cause and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.He expressed concern over the immoral activities in the society and sectarianism in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed that efforts have to be undertaken to eradicate ills and bring reforms in the society. Mirwaiz said that steps have been taken to strengthen and stablise APHC on grass root level. He said committees have been formed who are working in tandem with each other for this cause.
