The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting to review progress achieved under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and status of Languishing Projects in the district, here.During the meeting, the chair was informed that out of 42000 reported households for rural areas in the district, 26000 have been provided tap water connections under 26 schemes while remaining households are being covered under 33 schemes.Giving further details, it was informed that out of 59 schemes the work on 26 is complete in all respects and rest are at different phases of execution.The DDC directed the concerned Engineers to speed up the ongoing processing and prioritize the remaining households under the scheme within a fixed timeline. He also asked the concerned to submit a Detailed Progress Report (DPR) about the covered and uncovered households.He asked the concerned Engineers to complete the work on all the schemes within a weeks time. He said that to address the issue of water Supply in the district a flagship programme has been launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti Government of India with an aim to provide the portable drinking water facility to every household under the slogan "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal".During the meeting, the DDC directed the concerned to ensure cent percent coverage of all schools and Anganwadi Centres by piped water.Further, DDC impressed upon the concerned to initiate the process of tendering for works and ensure adherence to project timelines.Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Pulwama/Shopian, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Division, Shopian Executive Engineer, Irrigation Division, Shopian and Executive Engineer Flood Control Division, Kakapora attended the meeting.
